SGOTM 22 - Fifth Element

Whipping a warrior gives 15 overflow so not a chance. Whipping 2nd galley OTOH makes sense.

A plan:
1880 (this turn) warriors heal. Gwall 92+9.

1840. North barb moves east, south barb moves west on riveside mine. Warrior to ne mine. Gwall 101+8.

1800. North barb attacks and dies. Workers to fgh. South barb pillages riverside mine. Gwall 109+8.

1760. Workers finish chop. Gwall 117+8. Porcy pop2, whip archer.

1720 Workers back to road. Gwall 125+20+8. Porcy archer>archer.

1680 (start) Gwall completes. No whips.

We have only 3 whip anger? No prob for more whipping, especially if it adds + 1 galley and gives GWall 1 turn earlier

t53-54 2 turns into galley.
t55: 2pop whip galley,
t56 galley ready, OF to GWall (+30h), chop finished (+20h)
t57 GWall ready

Details of production: t53 we have 92/150 GW
t53:galley 0/50, +9 hammers
t54:9/50 galley, +8 (barb probably on a hill, so work forest instead)
t55: galley 17/50, 2pop whip: galley 77/50. We will not have time to regrow, so work max hammers: mine and forest (2nd mine probably pillaged), this will add another +6 hammers
t56: GWall: 92/150, +33 from overflow, +6 current production, +20 from chop (GWall 151/150)
t57: Gwall ready

Worker / warriors menagent:
Rome: C2 warrior 1,9 strength, 2nd warrior with heal promotion 0,5 strength
Porcellus: woodsman warrior 1,7, heal warrior 1,0

And yes, Porcy is endangered IMO, if barb wins 2 times in a row, we have no time for emergency whip.

This is my sollution:
t53: ALL workers to forest hill near Porcy
t54: ALL workers chop archer to Porcy, if battle is lost (scenario A)
If battle is won, we just gain this turn and move 2 workers to forest hill near Rome (scenario B), 3rd worker puts 1 turn to prechop
t55: scenario A: all workers to forest hill near Rome. scenario B: 2 workers are already there so put a road
t56: all workers chop into GWall

Rome area: 1,8 warrior 2N to the hill. 1,9 warrior on forest hill has better chances than 2streght warrior on a hill. If it loses, then we will have 1 turn for emergency scenario.

Of course we can do scenario A also when we win defensive battle of Porcellus, chopping an archer simply means we can move 2 warriors to pig and further to Rome

We are runing 90% research, dont like :P collect gold for 100% for 1 turn

Already moved the workers to Rome ( oops) so cunning archer chop is out I think.

Moving C2 warrior to fgh is risky, if barb moves SE to Rome instead of attacking then Rome is only defended by one injured warrior, C2 warrior can't get back in time.

Swop to galley, whip T55. Chop after barb suicides on C2 hillbilly. Porcy will be fine (unless RNG really hates us).

Research 100%.

From what I recall during testing, the north barb will attack the warrior on the forest hill instead of moving toward Rome. If the barb outsmarts me, we could still emergency whip an Archer or another warrior. Not ideal, but a suitable backup plan for what is a low probability scenario IMO.

Better move to forest.
I expect barb will attack him. We have also positive odds on Porcy so we should win there.

If we win in porcy than move one warrior to pig.

If Rome barb moves toward city we can attack him fromforest with positive odds too. If we lose we can attack again from Rome. If lose again we can do emergency whip.

Scenario that we lose all this battles is far unlikely so I urge to move to forest

ok. Move 1.9C2 to forest this turn. Swop to galley. Research 100%. Hit return. See what happens.

Darius I guess or gilg. Not a big prob imo. The worst we lose espionage from great spy

It was actually Zara.

Looks like we'll be needing some archers pretty much straight away. Maybe swop Rome from galley to archer, send 3 workers to chop and we should get an archer before barbarians are knocking at the gates of Rome. Our warriors are pretty beat up and will take 2-3 turns to heal.

What we need is catch up exploration, i dont see ap point of delayiong second galley. 2pop whip galley into archer next turn. We also must stop our workers running from town to town. Road instead.

We need to select a place for 3rd city. Soon archers wont be enough for defense and the more mobile unit the better, so I think about horses again.

We need also to select fogbast / antibarb positions and make them available by roads. 2SE and 2N from Rome is obvios, not sure about porcesllus.

I admit to being demoralised by losing Gwall and I'm feeling ready to hand over to the next player. Current save available in post #311.

NZ, are you around? I think maybe you said you were out of town. I'm away from my computer until Sunday. Unclethrill, are you still in the middle of moving?

I'm here, heading out of town on Wednesday so good to do a few turns now.

Don't agree with enKage - think missing the GWall is a huge problem but I was onboard with the gamble on the 2nd city so no point in crying over spilt milk. Will have a look at the save tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

I think it will be a big resource drain. We'll need something like 7-8 archers just to protect the borders. A couple of chariots too.

We'll want to get a barracks built soon. Guerrilla 1 archers on forest hills will be solid defense for a while to come.

Calm down, barbs will be less problem whien they settle. We simply must secure horses/copper before they take it
