SGOTM 22 - TTfkapr

I've heard comments about getting techs as part of peace deals. As I suspected, this is not possible with "no tech trading".

Here is a test to prove this:

I'm trying to do some tests right now, but it's hard without clear goals.

It seems most people agree on finishing BW, then rep+slavery next turn. I also think that's the better option. Perhaps it would be best to do this move before planning the rest too much in detail. Knowing if we have copper somewhere could greatly influence our future decisions.

Is anyone strongly against BW now? Or can I make a short PPP until the start of next turn?

I think that is a great idea.

Ok, so this turn it's gift Trojan to Sal and found horse (1W of corn). Then worker farms corn, I suppose, or was there arguments for horse first?

City micro... Do we want to 2 pop the worker, or slowbuild it and later whip granary? I'll test how these play out. Will also check if it's better to switch to cottages immediately in cap to maximize growth.

I like how a 2pop whip of the worker overflows into a granary. Then the worker chops out the granary with perfect timing to finish one turn before growth.

However, I don't know if it is a test game bug, but if I do the above plan, the game seems to ignore the granary, and doesn't store 12:food: from the previous turn after growth. But if I whip the granary it does store 12:food:.

Yup, whipping worker into granary is much better. Best option seems to be to whip worker asap. With the chop there's enough hammers for granary, so I'd prefer to work both cottages this turn. Also maxing hammers for library seems best.

PPP for this turn:

-Tech BW
-Gift Trojan to Sal
-Found Horse city 1W of Corn
-Worker farms corn
-Fish works fish+2 cot+forest
-Cap works all mines

Anything that should be done with the warriors?

Okay, I'll do it in a couple of hours.

What about the warrior spawnbusting at deer? Keep him there until Sal gets some garrison in Trojan, I suppose.

Definitely leave him there or some barb will spawn and take it from Saladin. There is also 1 tile south of the mountain line south of Rome's culture that needs fog busting. So, I recommend bringing one warrior down to fog bust. He can possibly stay within our cultural borders, and still bust the tile.

Played and uploaded.

6 warriors in cap and pop 6 before settling 3rd city:

There's copper in the east, but I don't see us settling that anytime soon.

I moved scouting workboats already. Brennus has Gaellic Warriors and is already at 7 cities. Saladin has plains floodplains, no wonder he was growing so fast early on. Actually, Sals lands look quite delicious...

Brenus is expanding preety fast and hes preety dangerous guy so we have to have preety good army to go against him. Does he have a lot of hills in hes land ?.
Can we trade something atm ?

Updated testgame.

Please note that we are 10 beakers behind on math compared to real game. As I only played one turn and researched another tech, there wasn't much I could do about that.

Edit: Brennus will trade Deer, sheep, wheat and fur. He accepts fish or pig in return. He won't trade copper because he doesn't like us enough. I assume that means he has got 2 at least, or he'd be saying something else.

Hmm pigs and fish for wheat and fur would be ok i think. We dont loose :health: and we gain +1 :) if iam correct.

Can you give the other AIs Math to even out the imbalance?

Saladin has swords, do it should be expected that Gallic warriors are present. Gumbolt's prediction about needing catapults look correct.

Giving them Maths at least helps to get it in one turn.

The next few turns are quite straightforward. Fish whips worker into granary, new worker heads to chop forest (I'd chop hill 2N1E of city). Horse worker finishes farm, city builds granary. Cap builds library. Nothing special should happen until we get the first GP in 4 turns. Perhaps play until then to see what we get? Should be about 90% GSpy.

I'd finish Maths, then bank gold until GP, probably put the single beaker into Alpha.

Brennus is worst enemy of Darius and Saladin. Do resource trades add 'you have traded with our worst enemy' penalty? Or do they increase the chance that Sal or Darius demand we stop trading with him?

I dont think we should focus on diplo, since we want to go conq probably and no tech tradeing mees that geting ais to friendly doesnt give us "too much".

Edit.
Keep going.

I agree. Keep going.

Resource trades do not add to "traded with worst enemy". I don't know if they affect probability of demands to cancel trades.
