SGOTM 22 - TTfkapr

Nothing special should happen until we get the first GP in 4 turns.
How wrong was I...

:eek::eek::eek:

Darius has been plotting for a while, shows up in the west with 2 axes, 2 (wounded) immortals and 2 spears. Heading towards our lands. Could be passing through on his way to Brennus, or he could attack Fish in 4 turns...

We can tech archery in 2 turns.

Thoughts?

Darius also built Kong Miao.

I don't think we have any choice but building chariots and researching archery. I am pretty sure we will have three turns before hen declares war.

Our power ratio is bad, but Brennus is Darius's Worstie. I still have to believe we are the target.

We may have a chance to demand a resource from Darius in the next turn. I am 99% certain he will decline.

We need to test our maximum in response. We can fight this, but it's gonna hurt!!

It would be 6 turns until we can have horse online.

We get archery T86, he can attack fish T87 or Rome T88. I can get one archer in fish until he attacks and move in warriors from cap. If he heads for Rome we can whip barracks (or walls) T85 and have 2 archers before he hits.

I think we can hold capital. He'd be attacking across a river, we already have 40% cultural defense and could have 2 promoted archers+a ton of warriors. But if he heads for fish we have one unpromoted archer + some warriors, no cultural defenses, no fortification bonuses... I'm not sure if we can keep it.

Look whos volunteer .
Seriously .. yea this is kind of bad, situation when ai comes for you from the other side of continent he will attack in 4 turns Antium i supose. what we can get ? 7 warriors and 2 archers or 1 archer.
Well anyway we need to tech archery move our warriors from cap to place where we can reinforce city witch he will attack and whip archers. we shouldnt whip this worker do we have slavery ?.

Edit allright nvm i c that we do.

We have slavery and rep.

Okay, I can get 2 archers in fish, but that requires cold 2 popping the first one T86 and abandoning fish for one turn+borrow mine from cap. A bit better, but not necessarily enough. This also means we won't get the worker.

Here's the current test game. Added sign where Darius units currently are.

A thought. If Darius heads towards fish, we could gift it to Sal and hope that barbs snatch it before he gets any defenders there.

If he goes streight for Antium i dotn think we can defend ourselfs.
i did test declare on Cat and i give her this units she had 0 looses and took city.

Damit i dont know how to deal with that this city is lost, we need think about not loosing Rome and game, thats why settling strat. res.is good idea..

Edit
Maybe yea whip archer there and give it to Sal we will lose it anyway if he goes steight for it.
And probably we need to whip 2 more archers in Rome.

Edit 2
Can we give it to Brenus ?

Ok we cant give it to Brenus this sux i was thinking about getting him to pleased and trade for copper.

Allso we dont have Buddhism starting GA and switch in to it sint option...

Well I dont know if we give fish spot to Sal its lost he got archer and spear marching towards stone but he probably move to fish instand.

Yes, it seems very likely we will lose Fish. So we have to think about what that means... Taking it back would be a big pain, because we need a ton of units. It would take us a long time before we can possibly conquer it back. But, it's a better Trojan city than Stone and Darius is a better tech stealing target than Sal, so we could at least try to get some advantage out of it.

Question is, does Darius have more units on the way and how soon can we get peace?

We also have to find out if it's even worth defending. If it looks like we lose it in any case, then it's better to whip a worker and run away than to cold pop archer. The worker will be of great help chopping defenders in capital.

yyeah, in your test, I assume you gave Cathy healthy units? The immortals are str 2.1 and 2.8 and one axe is also slightly wounded.

Yes but in real game Immortals are c2 in my test i didnt give them c1, even without any promo they will take out non promoted archer without fort. bonus in city without culture, they have like 70% chance maybe more, maybe 80% even.

Okay, I did a proper test of odds. The weakest of the wounded immortals should have losing odds even against unfortified warrior. About 32% victory odds+withdrawal chance. The 2.8 strength immortal has 50% odds vs archer, but 78% odds vs warrior. Spears and axes easily defeat warriors.

Ok so he maybe loose 1 immortal.

Either way our odds for def fish city are 0%.

We got 2 options.

Whip 2 workers then choop archers in cap. Seems like its better option if he goes for fish spot.
Or
2 archers this looks better if he goes for our Cap.

Or maybe not i think we can defend our cap if we whip 2 workers in fish spot, even if he goes streight for it.

I def it with 1 archer and 6 warriors, and another archer in next turn ( 1 choop no whips).

I'd rather play safe with cap than try to save pop. If we lose capital it is immediate game over according to the rules. If we put one turn hammers into barracks, we can whip next turn, then get 2 archers in 2 turns from the overflow. We would have time to promote both archers before he can possibly attack. Then chops can give us additional archers.

Allso manage to def fish spot with walls but it can go eaither way.
All warriros expect 2 from cap to fish spot 2 pop whip walls then archer.. archers later.

If we whip baraks and we will get 2 archers from it we can try to def 2 places.

Wow, what a crappy situation. I like the idea of whipping Archers over whipping 2 workers. I like your ideas. I wonder if we can lure the stack to Rome by sending our warriors toward fish. I don't mind giving up the fortify bonus for 1-2 of the warriors. 2:strength: + 25% is not good with the odds were are facing. The warriors are basically buying a turn for us to get another archer.

We still need to keep that warrior on the deer. It can't help our defense, so we had better not risk losing Trojan to barbs. The worker at the horses should come to Rome and start chopping immediately.

I left 1 warrior in Rome, Horse city warrior have to go def fish spot in this case he will be helpfull,
we could use this deer warrior too but we dont have to i think ... i hope.

Its better if he attack Rome, he would have to attack across river and he will be facing cult def.

I know there are several different situations where the AI will chose to declare war. It was predetermined several turns ago who Darius was going after. However, it can be changed suddenly if a prime attack scenario arises, such as a weakly defended border city. So maybe a tactic to lure Darius to a certain city is s bad idea because it may make him change his plans from Brennus to us.
