SGOTM 23 - Turbo Ants

I was thinking more like putting a few hammers in before marble, then whipping on marble+0 and removing it from the queue. Not sure we actually have the pop for that though.

Is that worth it? CEB has 122/250 on moai and pop4. How many h/pop is a marbled Moai whip?

Hmm, I'm not sure. Immediate cash flow is important, but so is building units. I'll check the whip penalty for HE and Moai when I get home

HE has an iHurryCostModifier of 50, like most other National Wonders. Moai's modifier is 100 (same as for most World Wonders).

40 per pop for HE. 30 for Moai definitely isn't worth it

Is chopping a library in Lisbon worth the beakers? Or better chopped into Moai?

The library was to allow Lisbon to run scientists early but that's out the window with the earlier golden age we're hoping for.
Definitely better chopped into Moai, but I don't know if Moai will really be around long enough for Lisbon to contribute.

Also, looking at the save, I don't think we'll need any ridiculous whips to generate failgold, so forget I mentioned HE. :scan:

WT earlier commented that the Istanbul academy will add 600b if we run scientists there. Extrapolating, the more libraries we have in GP cities the higher our absolute beaker output. Failgold doesn't affect our absolute beaker rate, just our relative rate (100% or not). So another way of asking the question is, will we maintain 100% without chpping Lisbon into a wonder?

What are you seeing? WT seems to think that we're going to have serious cash-flow problems eventually.

Hmm, interesting idea re: libraries. Lisbon is special because we can chop it - I'd discounted them in most places because they require a whip which costs too much.

I think I'd still chop into a wonder (I like frontloading the gold boost rather than a larger beaker boost at the end of the golden age); but I wouldn't delay Moai for it - we need the cash pretty soon to get through to Banking, and Lisbon-Moai would delay the Moai failgold until t109.

Before Banking, our finishing date (assuming it's research rather than conquest limited) depends on us being able to keep 100%. After Banking, it's limited by our GP schedule - saving even one turn needs us to generate 2000+ extra beakers to make up for the lost GM and research.

I'm less worried about being able to keep to 100% after that. We basically can turn scientists into merchants as required without being particularly inefficient, and we still have 29+ cities of capture gold in our future. Our future economy is based on a population boom (to which we should add Yaroslav'l soon) and specialists rather than a super-efficient 100% research empire.

We are also getting to the point where Number of Cities maintenance stops growing, so adding new AI cities won't hurt us much.
