I think we have to leave the continent too, or they will build military forever. If the threat is lessened on the continent, they might get the idea of building Apollo. And we don't really need to stay anyways, if Gandhi wants to try RCP, then he can have it.

With the crumbling roster, I think it's Offa again?
 
Offa is on holliday. He didn't give us a return date.
I will not be able to play for the coming days.


With the messed up roster, I'd say, it is open for the first who downloads it and posts a got it.
Do so only if you will finish the turnset within 24 hours.

That sort of sums it up perfectly. We have talked about maybe leaving the whole continent to India since they seem to be keen on building military only. I ckecked all their cities on my last turn and got their plan.

I just panned around the Indian lands. It is a sad sight: Copenhagen has a population of 3, Bergen 5, Oslo 6 , Tronheim 7 etc etc. It really makes a mockery of our valiant attempt to gift Gandhi a strong core.

Steal Indian plans, but our spy is exposed: you can see all their troops in the save. Attempt to plant another spy fails. So that is something that needs to be done.

Unfortunately this variant, despite early promise, isn't really working.

what kind of goverment they are in?
it looks like they were whipping citizens...
oh... actually what happened, they had resistors that starved to death....
too much of a cultural difference played it's trick
Has anybody checked if resistance has been quelled in all cities we gifted them?
 
I got it and can check that out, we have a few coins to spend.

I think I just give away the continent. As things are, letting them build unit after unit won't help us anywhere.

The whole idea of this game was quite brilliant, I think. But relying on a civ3 AI is too much, it seems. :)
 
I've got an idea. The Indians HAVE to build military to take our cities. What if we just abandoned a large swath around their core, or even the whole continent. This would greatly ease the pressure on them militarily, they may build settlers to found new cities, but at least they wouldn't be in resistance or facing any cultural pressure, and the easing might induce them into building apollo. Otto is far enough away that even if they start sending settlers over it won't impact things that much.
 
I agree it is better to disband than to gift all those cities.
AI won't leave any city undefended
Gifting 100 cities makes them build 200 defenders.

Maybe disband all but a few that will prevent him from building his own settlers.
If he takes 2 cities with 6 tiles in between, i don't think he will settle a new city in between. maybe make it 5 to be sure.
 
Just to lower the mood still further: a "rival" team hasn't posted on their thread for 2 weeks, and their latest save is 1800. Maybe the cheese-merchants figured out a way to make the Indians build a space ship :mad: . A pity, as we clearly didn't figure this out. Maybe we should have just abandoned the continent much earlier. Perhaps even destroying the Indian capital was wrong?

You could gift a lot of towns to the Ottomans to act as a buffer between India and us.
 
I've been tied up all day and the same will happen tomorrow, If anyone would take the save now, I'm happy to play after that.

Pre-turn - Start moving all units to the other continent. Abandon 30 cities.

1705AD - India does nothing.

1710AD - India burn Hippo to the ground. :rolleyes:

1715AD - And then they burn Alesund.

1720AD - Ottomans offer MPP and we have to pay 1 gpt. :lol:

India capture Carthage and raze Leptis Magna.

1725AD - Nothing.

1730AD - India capture 1 town and raze another.

1735AD - Iznik is indian.

1740AD - Karasjok2 is burnt to the ground. Obvioulsy they don't like our city-planning.

1745AD - Uskudar captured.

1750AD - India burn 3 more cities.

They're building settlers and military, I would call this game if it was my own.

Next player can try to figure out if they change their minds of building different stuff.

No pic, there are only 4-5 cities of ours left on the first continent.

The dedication I had in the beginning of the game is gone. I wonder what would've happened if we gave them a city on the other island instead and let them take over that place instead?

Yes... I wont try this again in civ3.. and before trying anything similar in civ4 I would have to tweak the AI some in the SDK :p
 
Unless someone comes with breaking news on how to change plans and make them build that damn ship:

Open for all to download, post a got it and play 10 turns within 24 hours after posting the got it.

I can't wait to see other team's threads.
I wonder if Gyathaar played this variant entirely several times on his own before proposing it here :crazyeye:
I'll check here again in next couple of days and will play perhaps if you don't mind... looks like roster doesn't really exist anymore.
 
Ok, I'll press spacebar 10 times and send some spies.

They burn the remaining cities. I pay little attention to our new core. and we proceed trough time at 2 year per turn intervals.

India sends Aegis cruisers to our small island with the Ottomans. I move the bombers there so we can sink some ships.

India has 1 more turnset to beat Klarius.

And the save is up for the next player !!!! gogogo someone :)
 
I might find time tomorrow to play. Anything I need to know? This game seems to slowly selfdestruct... ;) Hopefully we can muster enough energy to bring it to a close.
