5. (1800) Rome is coming hard, landing mech inf. and tanks everywhere. i am ending my turn here... just dont have the time... sorry guys

Roman SOD near Galveston could be bombed silly and you could rebase a helo(s) w/ three/six defenders to hold it if you want.

How about a ROP w/ China and then start dropping off a force to take a city, or plant one, on the far end of the island? That would be your jump point to the Roman homeland.

Turn 0 (1800AD) Sink 2 Roman destroyers, ironclad and transport. Redline and kill 2 mech infantry with tanks/artillery.

IBT- Rome lands more troops at Galveston. England has rocketry.

Turn 1 (1802AD) 3 destroyers and a transport sunk at Galveston.

IBT- More bombing

Turn 2 (1804AD) Lose 2 infantry to redlined forted infantry at Galveston.

IBT- Same activity

Turn 3 (1806AD) Marine kills redlined Roman Inf. Airlift in 5 tanks at Galveston.

IBT- More bombing

Turn 4 (1808AD) Now we can make some headway. Bomb 9 tanks, 2 infantry and cavalry red, then kill them all with 5 tanks, a marine, and an infantry.

Turn 5 (1810AD) Airlift 3 infantry to outside Molde

IBT- same as last sets

Turn 6 (1812AD) Airlift workers to Molde. Destroy 2 Roman bombers at Copenhagen

IBT- fewer bombing attacks, but Rome lands troops in the north.

Turn 7 (1814AD) Use artillery and tanks to kill off the Roman invaders. We get a leader. Sell refining to Greece for 100 gold. Sink two destroyers and a transport at Oslo.

IBT- 4 enemy bombing runs in the north.

Turn 8 (1816AD) Bring in several tanks outside Molde. Destroy a jet fighter

IBT- 5 bombing runs

Turn 9 (1818AD) Molde units Mech, Tow and infantry bombed and tanks raze the town.

IBT- More bombing runs

Turn 10 (1820AD) Bodo bombed and destroyed by tanks for some gold. Killed MI and Tow. Cleveland founded.

IBT- More runs.

Turn 11 (1822AD) Rocketry in, Ecology in 11 with some scientists. Contact Greece and gift them into the modern age. They get fission. Re-negotiate peace and trade rocketry and amphibious warfare for fission. We have the aluminum by Minneapolis, but we need to put a road in. Move workers up.

IBT- same

Turn 12 (1824AD) Connect the aluminum. Upgrade 9 fighters to F-15s. Copenhagen is bombed and taken. Rebase 14 bombers outside of Oslo.

IBT- same

Turn 13 (1826AD) Bomber redlines a cav. Send in the F-15s. First one kills the cav and Golden Age begins. Oslo is bombed and taken by a tank.

Turn 14 (1828AD) Bring in more troops to the former Viking lands

Turn 15 (1830AD) Raze Birka.

Turn 16 (1832AD) Bombing Stockholm brings bad news. Rome has modern armor. :cry:

IBT- A Roman MA takes an undefended airbase with an F-15.

Turn 17 (1834AD)

Turn 18 (1836AD) Trondheim captured, Rekyavik autorazed. Spend 102 gold to get a spy into Rome.

Turn 19 (1838AD) Kill a barb camp with a tank and get 25 gold and a promotion.

Turn 20 (1840AD) Kill 2 modern armor and Stavanger autorazes. Bergen and Aarhus are bombed and captured.

Done with this set, and the turns were not much fun. I didn't finish moving units, so whoever takes it can move whatever is appropriate. This was an island of small towns around size 6. There are a lot of size 20+ cities awaiting. And it took a lot of air strikes to redline these dug-in modern units. England is building the Manhattan project. I have science turned up, but if you want to try to turn off research and do some stealing, that’s fine. It is 11 turns to Modern Armor.

Unfortunately, this game can’t be won any time soon. :sad: Bede can check it out and decide if it’s worth continuing. The Roman bombers are pretty much gone, but with 140-odd Roman mech infantry and nukes lurking in the future, this isn’t looking too hot where we can’t transport armies by air. We do have an army that supported this latest campaign, but it’s essentially stuck on that land mass.
 
Got it and will put in at least 20 Friday night. Then we can see where we are.
 
Just an update at 4 turns in.....

Wiped out a Roman force on the Vikign island then made peace with Julius for his treasury which I used to buy Computers from Alex which showed me where the uranium was. Turned off research and stole Space Flight from Liz. Julius finished Manhattan Project in Pompeii of all places but has not built any nukes yet, though he has at leat one in the queue.

Turned my attention to the Chinese and have a beachead on their homeland which they share with JC. Cruise missiles work a treat, BTW, as they can be transported by heli. Mao nom longer has any defenders in his cities, just need a turn to get get some tanks airlifted in to the airfield built on the rubble of Nangpo'.

So I'll keep nibbling at the Chinese while the kitty builds up to steal Satellites from JC and we can build some ICBMs as that looks like the only way to finish this one, or at leat provide for some MAD defense while mopping up Mao, LIz and Alex.
 
It's tedious but doable.

Traded up for some Roman luxuries after finishing the Chinese and before taking on the English and now the isles to the west are in our hands.

Stole Space Flight and Syntehtic Fibers.

It seems the best way to proceed is to gather the air force and the ground troops with a couple of settlers and workers in helicopters, bomb the closest city hard, drop paras then leg infantry/marines/combat settlers/workers by helicopter at a suitable landing spot, absorb the counters, build a town and an airfield, then bring in the Armor. It worked against the Chinese but then they didn't have any offensive forces left.

Cruise missiles can transport by heli and are a nice addition to the force.

Use the spies in place to keep tabs on the other guys forces.

Liz has very few armor but lots of MechInf.

The time consuimng part is reassembling everything for the next assault.

We can build tactical nukes if we want to risk conflagration and if we steal Satellites we can build ICBMs for Armageddon.

I've attached the latest save if anyone wants to take it forward. And I'll pick it back up tonight for a few more.

Yes, I'm still alive. I want to apologize for my absence all this time, and for missing my turns, I've had some, personal/emotional problems in the past several weeks and everything got kind of screwed up.

I will step down from the team if you like and I would totally understand. But if you'll still have me, I'm willing to play catch up to find out what I've missed.

well... it seems that only 3 of us are evident on this team anymore residue.
bede, m60 and myself have been the only active polayers as of late.

i guess its up to bede... another body sure could be useful though
 
juballs, I'd suggest you take it now if you can, otherwise I will. Then Bede can put RT in afterwards which would give him time to get caught up on current events and ask any questions. I also think Alex has outlived his usefulness.
 
I'll be OK with whatever decision Bede arrives at, I'll just need to research what's happened and try to get a handle on the current situation. But once again, you guys have my apologies for bailing out like that

if the game is still going by Friday (18th?) i should be able to play again. I'm going on holiday on saturday until after the end of the school year, so homework aint gonna be a problem no more.
