Make peace with Rome for 20 gold at Bede’s suggestion. War happiness evaporates, so there are now unhappy citizens to placate. Advanced flight in 4 @ -10gpt.

Turn 1 (1772AD)– Clean up pollution in the area.

IBT- Quiet

Turn 2 (1774AD) Get settlers going in the tax farms. We’ll need some emigrants down the road.

IBT- LA riots.

Turn 3 (1776AD) Independence Day is close. One turn to Advanced Flight

IBT- Quiet

Turn 4 (1778AD) All scientists back to H&R Block. Turn science off. Now at 494 gpt.

IBT- Resiopolis gets a cathedral so it can go back to 50 spt without starving at this lux level. Back to more important production.

Turn 5 (1780AD) Mao’s rifle unit in Ningpo is alarmed as a P-51 squadron sweeps in for a reconnaissance of the town. Across the straits at Cape May they observe several metal creatures that appear to be hovering just above the ground.

IBT- Quiet

Turn 6 (1782AD) The Eagle has landed. Our first settler arrives on Tromso Island.

IBT- Quiet

Turn 7 (1784AD) Start disbanding warriors as our military count now exceeds out authorized limit. Short rush flak for 160 gold in 30spt towns of Morristown and Philadelphia, then switch to B-17s. Galveston founded. Two infantry airlifted in.

IBT- Not time to panic just yet, but Rome starts Manhattan’s.

Turn 8 (1786AD) Clean up some pollution. Sell Alex corporation for 30 gold and WM.

IBT- Quiet

Turn 9 (1788AD) Nothing

IBT- Incense deal with Lizzy expires.

Turn 10 (1790AD) Renew incense deal for dyes and gems to England. Attempt careful steal from Rome which fails, and we are at war with them once again. So be it. :(

Air forces at Cape May that were stacked for a Chinese operation now attack Roman Tientsin. Destroy 3 bombers, and we lose 3 to flak. 3 Roman destroyers are sunk at the harbor. Airlift 9 infantry next to Tientsin. Take lux tax to 10% for war happiness. Now at 553 gpt. And done.

Post turn: I hate espionage. :mad: Whatever the definition of “careful steal” is, you could fool me. It seems more times it fails for me than succeeds.

umm... well if residue dosent take it by 5pm tonight i will come back and take it.
 
ummm... if we can only load settlers, workers... explorers and missles into choppers... then how did we get infantry on the island the chinese had?

and how exactly am i gonna take over cities if i cant take units over that have an attack power?
 
or can i load tanks and infantry in heli's and drop them on other land... just asking.

im on turn 1 still and knowing this will be helpful..
 
Post #1 in this thread gives you a list of the extra units that can be loaded into whirlybirds. Civilopedia will give you the standard ones.
 
- Settlers, workers, scouts, explorers, leaders, cruise missiles and tactical nukes can be loaded into helicopters.

[Sigh] Here it is then .... "Helicopters may carry foot soldiers only - no mechanised units allowed". I would add that applies to *all* fast units, not just motorised units.
 
ok... i just knew this was a game of restrictions... and i remember something about Catapults/Cannon class units not being allwoed to be transported... just wondering what the restrictions were... and if i was able to send attack strength ground units (tanks, infantry)
 
no cannon/artillery/catapults. But you can carry infantry, swords, rifles, longbows, archers, small children with pea shooters .. well, maybe not the last one.
 
Right now we are in a transition period. We have the technology to get off the island and fight on some smaller islands, but not the techs or units to fight on the larger scale, except maybe for China that still have riflemen.

Bombers do not have lethal land bombardment, where cruise missiles and
F-15s do. So we still need rocketry. The idea should be to get that, then we employ strategy along these lines:

1. The air component. Use the bombers to destroy all road and rail tiles to a target city to prevent reinforcements and redline the city defenders. F-15s fly air superiority and optionally attack the city to eliminate defenders.

2. The airmobile component. Helicopters come in to deliver the ground forces. That consists of leg infantry or marines if we get the amphibious war tech. It can also contain cruise missiles which can be used to destroy redlined defenders.

3. Capture the city with the ground forces. At this moment, the infantry has to fight it's way into the city. Later once we get lethal bombard ability, they can walk into undefended cities.

4. The heavy forces component. Airlift the tanks or mech infantry (if we have computers) into the captured city.

We are going to need a lot of aircraft, because they have to do the work that the artillery would normally do. So think shock and awe. ;)
 
Nice set of tactics, but let's not forget the para's. Excellent defenders for opening salients in any unclaimed territory. Para's for defense, then leg infantry and a worker for building an airfield by helio, then move on them with airlifted tanks, mech infantry and push the salient even further.
