At first, I disagreed with Killer. How does the beginner learn to play chess? By having the opponent sacrifice all their pawns & open their King to attack? No.
But, after a while, I agree. I began to think on other games, where I was much newer & less "into" the game. The original version of SimCity comes to mind. I only played it on the super-easy version with infinite $$. Sure, I didn't get the into the strategic value of the game, but I enjoyed building a metropolis, uninterrupted just the same. I can see no harm in including another option to the startup screen for a 'sandbox' style game.
