shootin without sound?

I'm in the middle of a game and my cavalry is shooting with silencers. Only the horse makes a sound (like laughing). The result of the battle is still the same but is this a new tech? or what else?
Ofcourse I will see what re-installation does after I finished the game!

Is this a regular error and what can I do to mend?

Go to the Preferences (main menu, then Preferences, or Control + P), and turn ALL sound on. It sounds like you may just have one of the two options on (I forget the names).

Else, it may be a problem with the cavalry's files, so yes, a reinstall could work if the above doesn't.
