whats the sortcut key to show the potential city radius should a city be built in the current settler location.

sorry, i cant open the shortcut document someone posted to find out....

thanks

Do you mean the grid?

hmm, maybe i made this up but i thought you could activate something that showed the city radious ie. where it would be placed if you pressed "build" at the settler's curent location.

i dont mean the control-G (or whatever it is) function, which gives you the entire grid.

Oh, that. Yeah, sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't.

I have issues with this feature, as well. Personally, I can't stand it, as it makes moving the settler really slow (then again, my computer is below the recommended system specs). It also seems to sort of flake on and off. Sometimes I see it, sometimes not. I've always assumed this is a bug.

A lot of graphic effects come and go. Like the crosshairs in the Mil Advisor screen.

When they start disappearing I just save, quit and restart the game. Must be a huge memory leak somewhere.

highilighted in red ? it's highlighted in teal for me.

If it doesn't work, try moving the settler 2 spaces with the keyboard.

obviously this is only pausable w/railroads.

What I miss from Civ 2 is how it will highlight the space used by your exisiting cities (the city radius) when you do Ctrl-G. In Civ 3, I find myself counting squares all the time. However, that highlight wasn't in the original version of Civ 2, so hopefully they'll add it to a patch here as well.

Make yourself a city planner. Lay a piece of celaphane or a clear plastic bag, like a parts bag or a ziploc on your screen, and draw the outline of your first city, once it expands to the full size. Put a dot in the center for location, turn the grid on (contl_G) and lay that over your screen when you are planning a city.

No offense to anyone intended, but I've only been playing for somewhere neer 2-3 years on civ2, and less than a month on civ three, and i can generally see where it will be with or without the grid. And the blue line around the settlers feet, thats cultural borders, and hence does not show within your own established national borders.
