should nominations start earlier

i think yes. i would propose the 15th of a month, running till the 27th, where elections will start.
reason:
more time to interview, nominate and keep an eye on the nominees.
the threads wont be checked by the mods till the 24th, then they update the first post like now. the candidates will have to decline or accepts till 27th like now. only nomination time will be much longer

I think 3 days is plenty for the nomination process. I would support a day break between the close of nominations and the beginning of voting though. This would give the candidates a day to answer the debate thread questions. Interviews can start as soon as a candidate accepts a nomination. So this would start nominations on day 24 and end them on day 26. Day 27 would be for debates, etc, and voting would still begin on day 28.

I like it the way it is. We have 4 days for nominations. This gives people who are away on vacation or assignment some extra time to post. Then we have 2 -3 days to vote. That's plenty.

One thing you might want to look at closer, Dis, is the Phoenatican Weekly Standard. You could introduce a Political Interview Column that would run all month and keep us up to date on current platforms of local politicians.

That's an awesome idea.

if i would have time for it and was a native speaker (hint) i would do it. a interview column should be run be someone who speaks native english to avoid misunderstandings.

With all our correspondence back and forth on the Forum, I never had a clue that English wasn't your native language. I don't think you have anything to fear about your language use. ;)

Then again, I definitely understand time constraints :(

tnx for the compliment, shaitan, but i still think one of our english-speaking citizens can do it better, as the kind of english used for example in the constitution or other "official" parts would suit this interview better
