Here's the place to show off how many promotions you've managed to get on your warlord units. If you haven't discovered already, the warlords get free upgrades, and don't suffer from the XP loss you normally get when upgrading.

This one started off attached to a swordsman. Hopefully he's still got a couple more war's left in him. I can't wait till he gets to promote to a mech infantry. He's so godlike, I thought I'd show him walking on water

He he! I always change my leaders name... He's got a song called " I am a viking" so I figured he could lead my civ ;)

 Have a made a calculation error, or is it true that when attacking a city garrisoned with Infantry or Mech Infantry (both of which are common city defenders), that guy's got an effective strength of 53!?

Well, these don't compare to that but here are mine. One is from the Genghis Khan Scenario. The other is of an Axeman who was just upgraged to a Maceman. The new Maceman is young, so who knows how far it will go. Sadly, I think the game will be finished before I even get to Infantry, but who knows?

I got up to 10-11 promotion with a general under Brennus (Charismatic = :D). Cao Cao, if I recall. He ended up as a gunship...

So... do you folks send him into risky battles to get as many extra XP as possible from the Leadership promotion, or do you play it safe and let him only fight when you're almost perfectly sure he'll win?

A totally one-sided and therefore only worth 1 XP battle will always net only 1 XP even with Leadership, correct?

To begin with, I was sending him into battle willy nilly, but once he got to around 50xp, I started getting precious over him, and would only send him into certain battles.

The limit for 2xp seems to be 98%. Anything higher and you only get 1 xp (and no leadership bonus) I was trying to only give him battles of 95-98% so I could get 3xp each time with minimum risks. I haven't finished the game yet though... so I expect I'll be able to get him higher.

Are you sure the Leadership is applied before Rounding

(ie will a Normal unit get 2 xp on 98%, or does Leadership boost the Odds [so a Normal unit would only get 2 xp on 94% or something like that])

That is awesome! Yngwie :goodjob:

You can also make sure your unit is in the stack when you go to make a Warlord. Have the new unit and your high promoted unit in the stack and it gets 10xp for free (when you make your new unit a Warlord). 4 Great Generals and that is 40xp for free ;)

Jimbob once thing I would NEVER have done is put that unit on a transport, sure he's all powerfull on land but all it takes is a single sub to mess with your entire day :( heh

How do you get so many promotions without reloading? My Great Generals allways die at ~95% odds way before getting to 100 xp.
If you attack at 95%, chances are your unit will only see 20-30 battles before it dies and if you only attack at 99% you never get more than 1 xp.

A friend had his 2 first Generals die on their first fights (both over 90%), no that's nice work from the RNG :D

Looks like you need to go up a difficulty level or two there. :)

This is a shot of my 3000 year old warlord. Began his life as a Numidian Horseman and made his way battle through battle to a chopper. He helped me win for the first time at monarch.

How do you give your units individual names?

Oh goodness. I thought I was a warmonger untill I seen this stuff. I think my highest promo was 6 or 7............ (probably 6) But you guys ROCK.
Now I know NOT to play on-line.... (laugh)

Ive never even thought getting past around 40xp was feisable. My strongest unit ever was around 40xp, the game usually ends before i get a chance to get him even stronger.
