Sid level huts

AC sure, but I doubt the Hop/Num will be attacked by barbs. The AC will not be attacked either, but you can attack with them, where as those other units would be risky on attack.

All in All huts are not in your best interest on Sid.
 
Yeah, maybe it depends on how "high" of a level, that makes sense. Num. Merc's may not get attacked, but they can attack like an archer. Do you have noaipatrol=0 on vmxa?
 
I use it on as GR requires it, but I find it makes little difference in the game, except in massive games it is a pain as it increases the time need for the AI to do its moves.

The AI will blunder into your units rarely and std maps it is fine. Mid games on 250x250 with 30 civs or even huge Sid games the amount of units that will patrol has an impact on time. Not much on battles.

It is not unusual to go a whole games with no blunders and every now and then a game will see 1 or 2 times where a unit ran into an army. In these types of games, barbs are generally set to none.
 
You can still get barbs by settling next to huts.

Chamnix was right. You won't get barbs if you settle directly adjacent to a hut. You might get barbs if you pop the hut with a culture expansion.
