Okay, you guys are going way too far. Leonard Nimoy is a professional actor and a damn good one. Sid isn't. Moreover they had to go and give him a long winded, disjointed, boring and non-sensical quote for Aesthetics.
He did fine, given the circumstances.

I don't even notice Sid anymore. I think everybody gets a bad impression of Sid's voice due to the first time you are most likely to hear him is Aesthetics and as I said before I think even professional actors would have a hard time making that quote sound good. It's just awkward.

Aesthetics isn't the issue for me... I think that one is fine, although he does say it fast... but it isn't creepy

It's Advanced Flight that gets me!

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth. Put out my hands and touched the face of God." Now that was creepy!

I have my settings such that I get only the "You have discovered XXX." Although a few of the quotes are entertaining enough to listen to repeatedly, most are not, especially when they are all uttered simultaneously!

Even with this shorter verbal barrage, the Sid voice is wretched.

Really poor choice to do it this way. If they couldn't/wouldn't get Nimoy to do it, they should have found another VO talent to re-do all of them. I'm sure that even somebody who does local auto sales adverts on AM radio could do a better job -- and for cheap. Plus, they'd do it really, really fast!!!

Listen to Advanced Flight. :/ If there's another expansion he should say all of the quotes (turning them on is optional of course), and redo the BtS additions. It does seem like Aesthetics had the most effort put into it.

Oh, and the quote for Superconductors really is the best in the game, or definitely of the 5 new Techs.

Sid's tone is Nasally and poorly directed. His voice drops off at the end of a phrase and he sounds like he is just reading a script. Nimoy, on the other hand, makes profound postulations with every word.

I don't get why people say Aesthetics is an awkward quote that a professional actor could not have done. The quote itself is fine, there's nothing wrong with it.

But for the record: Sid does not have the epic voice of Nimoy, who's voice fits the game to a tee. It's unfortunate they could not have gotten Nimoy to do the remaining tech quotes, but it's not something that makes or breaks the game.

I wouldn't go that far, however although I found Sid's VO to be quite jarring the first few times I've heard it, I don't really notice it anymore.
