While I agree that Sid wasn't exactly the best choice, Nimoy's work wasn't a whole lot better. His delivery was a bit on the lifeless side.

Like other people around here, I feel SMAC did it best.

Does anyone know if it's possible to go back to the full announcement for each tech discovered in 3.13? Since patching...every time I make a discovery all I get is "You have discovered Communism", with no tech-pop or anything. I liked the old way better.

Well, Sputnik was quoted without emothion or zing, but Napoleon and Capone et al were quite good.

Of course after a few years, we come to expect Nimoy. It's jarring to hear anyone else. Maybe we'll get used it, or they can importune Spock to VO the new techs and patch Sid out. No offense.

I'm sure it wouldnt cost too much to get the voice actor who did Cain from the Diablo series... that would be cool (assuming that Leonard Nimoy is not available for whatever reason). Sid is ok, but he is not a voice actor.
