I am having a problem playing Civilization 3 and i will try to explain it the best I can. First of all, from what I gather, many people have a similar problem but mine seems to be a tad different and I hope one of you Civilization experts can help me.
My Computer Specs:
128 RAM
Pentium 4 1.3 Ghz
32 MB Nvidia Geforce 2 MX
1 CD Drive (Drive D
1 CD Burner Drive (Drive E
Dial Up Internet Connection
Problem:
About 2 weeks ago, I purchased Civilization 3 Game of the Year Edition from a local Game Stop Store. I brought it home and immediately installed it on my computer and it worked fine.
The following day, I left for a trip to Bermuda and my computer was left off for the week that i was gone.
When I arrived home and attempted to play Civ 3, the computer froze at the Infogrames Intro Splash Screen. I was perplexed but thought it to be nothing more than a common error. So i restarted my computer, the same thing occurred and it continues to do so after I downloaded the newest patch, uninstalled and reinstalled it twice, checked to make sure my drivers were up to date (which they were and certified), Also, my monitor supports 1024 resolution.
Usually when i start the program, it momentarily returns back to the desktop in the 1024 resolution and then the screen blackens and goes to the splash screen where it locks up. When i press Ctrl-Alt-Delete it allows me to "end task" the program but when i return to the desktop it is in the 640 resolution.
I hope one of you can help me, I consider myself to be a little above a novice computer user and I know many of you are way above being a novice. I look forward to hearing all your feedback on this matter.
