sorry if this has been asked before.

I don't but it would be fun to try

I see your point :D
That's why I was wondering if anyone ever used that option, I've never met anyone who did.

It's probably there just for the "backward compability", people who didn't like they changed that from civ1. No never use it:)

Hell, I don't even know what simplified combat would look like, much less ever used it.

I do, however, almost always pick my own opponents. Hmm, maybe there's a thread there....

The improved combat system in Civ2 is a major improvement to the game. Just ask any CIV 1 player, who has lost a battleship to a phalanx.

Phalanx???? try losing a battleship to a SETTLER!!!!!!! That was the worst thing about the original combat system in Civ 1.

Those Civ1 lovers probably would use it. I never have, and I suppose I won't ever -- unless you want me to come back here and rant!

Someone PM Portuguese and let him know that we are dogging Civ1! ;)

Portuguese has been notified... ;)
Actually the simplified combat system is such a pain, I like the Civ2 combat system much better. I don't even understand why the simplified combat option is there in Civ2...

I never use simplivied combat. In one of my first Civ 1 games I lost a tank to an enemy militia.

I have never tried the option; the Civ2 combat system adds the extra dimension, which is more interesting.

Never bothered with it, but I guess it could be helpful to someone new to the game to help them get used to the higher levels of difficulty.
