Yup, they are computer controlled cyborg-militas with the order to overthrow the world. I'm always scared to death when I saw orange or grey units coming over the hills towards my cities. But then I relax when I realized it's just Egyptians or Indians :)

I used to load it onto the temp files at my university and save my games on a floppy. I had to loasd it each day that I would play. I was too poor to own a computer. Is Civ 1 still for sale anywhere?

Civ1 is still bundled with other games from time to time, though the last time I saw this was last year. There's nearly always at least one copy for sale on eBay at any one time, together with many copies of other Civ games.

It's the first time i visit the civ1 forum. I played all three of them and my preferences are civ3 - best civ 1 worst. But I might not be objective. I was younger when civ1 appeared, the graphics war poorer and I had no Internet (CFC) support to learn strategies.

I'm afraid I voted for Civ2. I LOVE Civ1 and played it for years (I still play it from time to time), but I have to admit Civ 2 does have a lot of improvements. I don't feel the same way about Civ 3, I just can't get hooked.

So you played CIV1 and don't vote for it?!?

Actually, I assume everyone who voted has played Civ 1, 2 and 3, isn't that the only way to make an informed decision ;) ?
Anyway, for me Civ 1 was probably the most significative one, since it introduced me to the world of Civilization, but Civ 2 is much more complete. I'm sorry, it's almost a tie, but I had to choose one :)

I just started playing Civ again. I moved from Scotland to the US and my Civ 3 CD was left behind, so either I'll have to wait until it gets mailed back or I buy a new copy. My copy of Civ2 is at my brother's house and I've been trying to get it back for a year..so all I have to play right now is Civ, but after getting used to it again I'm suprizingly addicted to it all over again.
