Maybe they are delaying the reveal of the SF on purpose, because they need to work out how to do it cleverly, since for some reason people seem extraordinary touchy about any resemblance to pop cultural concepts of russia that have already been used somewhere else. (at least on this forum)

Exactly, so your first 3 words don't make much sense... Such feelings arising from fiction is a textbook example of touchiness. The modern buying public trying to forcefully bend every aspect of the product that goes against their political views, morals, personal pettishness and so on.

Good they keep quote heritage of SMAC, bad they voiced him with a woman voice... It was so atmospheric to hear leaders in SMAC and feel their great contribution to humanity, their personality and deep believes. I start to think everything will be a little backing from SMAC. The explicit extent of each faction has been purposefully left vague, and it's safe to assume the initial 8 factions do not, in fact, cover the entire globe. There's no indication the PAC comprises more than China and perhaps a chunk of Southeast Asia and some minor neighbours, Korea and Japan are unaccounted for, the status of easily half of Europe is an unknown (notably Britain, Germany and Scandinavia), the expanse of the ARC is nebulous, as is Brasilia's, etc. I really don't see much in the way of forceful lumping together. Only openings the devs left for themselves, for the sake of future expansions.

In the Slavic Federation's case, they might very well hold half as much territory as modern Russia does, having only absorbed a handful of slavic neighbours, and lost land to environmental catastrophes and past wars.

I wouldn't mind REAL Slavic Federation, but this is just reskinned RUSSIAN Federation. Besides, Russia is a country barely capable of fixing it's internal problems. It's been like that for centuries and I don't think it would change at all. Russia dominating ALONE all slavic nations is just pure BS.
