Ever had a game where things moved very slowly? Maybe teching came a little later than usual, or perhaps wonders were a thousand years later than normal. I ask because in my current game (first monarch attempt, wewt), the tech pace has been very slow. It's past 1000AD and the tech leader has no civil service, paper, or anything remotely modern (and I'm not the tech leader :().

Here are some screens to show you what I mean.

That's some seriously late wonder and tech... Share your stories as well!

I built the Pyrmids in 1400 AD on my latest HOF game.

Wow! Well this was on Monarch/Standard/Hemispheres. And it's not just me, at least two other civs didn't know Alphabet at the time I got it.

Could you imagine a time victory before the industrial age? :crazyeye:

I mean, we were teching along at a slightly slow click, it ended in 1964 with one still in the Renaissance and me and another AI just barely into the Industrial Age.

But it seems someone forgot to build the Pyrmaids, so I just said hey lets build it.

Jerry - OT - O_o at your Political Compass score. Though maybe it figures from your sig quote.

As for this, I spent most of one game building the Pyramids because the AI kept poisoning that city's water supply. The game ended because I cheated and mis-cheated and gave Qin Shi Huang the tanks I was debugging for myself inside his lands. It was my first attempt at Chieftain and I was horrifically behind because I was using Settler aggressiveness when I should have been expanding around the Civs before attacking them from their borderlands. Thus things were moving at a syrupy pace.

But MEDITATION in the 870s?! I suppose you can get what you need out of Polytheism as well, but I am surprised. Did you have your tech slider all the way down for a while?

Late wonders seem no happen a lot in Aggressive AI games.

I just ignored it until I need philosophy. Strangely enough MANSA wouldn't trade it to me. And the other civ on my continent, didn't have alphabet. But I guess you know something is wrong with the game when Mansa won't trade you stuff...

It's an odd game. I've had a monarch game where I ended it with cavalry in 1772 AD, and another game where I used my newly discovered...KNIGHTS...in the 1800's...to leverage a tech LEAD to finish off the game....

holy beep that's super slow......the slowest I had was I was the tech LEADER and just barely inched my civ into the industrial age like two turns before I won the time victory....
