Slow Mod loading issues

Hello,

Very often lately when I'm trying to load a Mod for Civ, the game will exit to the desktop and wait about five minutes to load the mod. At times I think it's revolted against my tyranical rule, and restart Civ to reload the mod. Unfortunately my computer then spites me by instantly running two applications of Civ with the mod.

I have a fairly up to date computer 2gig ram 3.4ghz P4 HT, Ati Radeon X300 (okay so the graphics card isn't great but it gets the job done on all the games I play), and at least 20 gigs of hard drive space to spare. Does anyone have any idea what's causing the loading delay lately?

I don't know what's causing it, but I too have an odd delay when loading mods. Not five minutes though, more like 10 seconds during which the computer appears to be doing nothing, at my desktop. Sure enough Warlords starts loading again however.

3.73GHz/2GB RAM/Geforce6 6600GT.

For me the delay can be up to a few minutes for big mods like FfH2 or so. But I am patient
Note that you can observe whether there's a civ4 instance running in the task manager under Processes tab.

I suppose I'm just going to have to learn to be patient. It's frustrating at times, since I'm spoiled by how fast everything else happens on my computer.
