Slow turns?

Is anyone else having an issue with turn length?

I hit next turn about 20 turns in and it takes like 2 minutes for the AI's to take their turns...

A few months ago it was less than 30 seconds.

I've messed with the graphics a bunch and it hasn't helped.

Any thoughts?

I have the same problem. I have a i7-5930K with 64GB RAM and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SLI. The turns still take way too long, I cant play any of the big maps at all on a huge map it will take a min or two per turn. I think its the barbarian turns that are bugging out since it seems to be on there go that the comp slows down and freezes for multiple seconds.

This is the single most important problem since Civ V for me. Really annoying and hard to accept, we have multi core CPU's now...

I have not seen the problem getting any worse since civ6 was released. turns were awfully slow in october as they are now. they get worse with bigger maps, so if you started playing bigger maps it may explain why it seems to you that it got worse.
In my case, I bought an extra fan to cool my processor and the game speed up significantly. But yeah, they should optimize better

We know the game is horribly broken on the graphics front, so it's possible the game is wasting cpu time to send stupid useless stuff to waste graphics card time

Looks like the Barbarian turn time issue that was reintroduced in the last patch.

The way they release patch only with DLC and not as hotfix is frustrating, as I had the impression it had been solved one of the previous patches... and we don't know when the next will come.

The difference in turn time during autoplay with or without barbarians is huge.

I don't see this very often, but when I do it's early in the game and stops fairly quickly. It is obviously connected to the barbarians' turns. I only play on huge maps, but I have a fast computer, so it's not that bad.

I accidentally started the huge map with 7 civs (and I think no city-states). Don't know how it happened, btw, I didn't change any settings, so expected 12 civs and loads of CS. Only started suspecting something when I discovered I had a large continent for myself (and no CS on it too), then I looked at the score and saw only 7 civs there (and I had no messages that 'someone lost').

Back to the point: this was the only occasion when I met the 'slow barbarians' problem. So, the solution is 'add more civs or city-states', it seems like barbs are taking a lot of time when they have too much space. And it goes away later in the game, because their space is reduced by settling.
