Man: "You meen the one with the Aussie guy?"

Second Man: "Ya, that one."
*Back on the screen*
Man in Enviromental Suit: G'day fellow colonists! I'm Chuck Baldwin, an' this is the mindworm 'unta. Now, your first question is likley to be, what the bloddy F*** is a mindworm. Well friends, I can tell you that right now. The mindworm is an amazing little bugger, that lives out here on the 'arsh surface 'O this 'ere plannet. Now, I'm standing 'ere in a patch of "xenofungus", the midworm's natural 'abitat. These mindworms are normaly quite reclusive, but if you go though this 'ere fungus those little buggers'll come at you like that! Now, after the break, I'll try and get a little closer 'ere and see if we can find a few. That shold be quite the sight! For now, I'm the mindworm 'unta.

Wow, Deidre Skye is alive and commanding her legions or eco-fanatics. My scouts are our there right now trying to get her Communications frequency. All our equipment was broken and had to be rebuilt upon Planetfall. Even if someone's equipment was intact, they probably gave up when no one answered. It is amazing this worked at all, since these units had never really been tested. Non of the test sites in the Sol system had an atmosphere or a substantial one. Also, the survivors did not have to support themselves indefinitely. I have no illusions, there is no follow-up party that will come with more supplies in forty years. Earth was definitely wiped out during our voyage, if my intelligence is correct. It would be interesting to see her face again, thirty-five years since both of us had tryed to kill each other last. I even remember a time when we could sit down and have 'discussion', although there was never a hint of civility to them.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Schwick: Resources exist to be consumed, and consumed they will be! If not by this generation then by the next!
Deidre: You intend to destroy this planet just like you destroyed Earth. Thanks to all the over-consumption on Earth we had to send this party to another system. Ecological damage would have left Earth unable to sustain itself well before the end of this flight.
Schwick: And I am guessing that the equivalent of 200 Gigatons of Nuclear force that were utilized in wars had nothing to do with Earth's demise! Are you trying to blame me for the nuclear wars? I think you would do better looking at people like your friend Santiago. Earth's resources were plenty sustainable and the ecology adaptable. Seperation of industrial and environmental zones was proven an effective measure to protect the ecology of Earth.
Deidre: Thats illogical and you know it. Industrial effects cannot be isolated into domes and facilities. Atmoshperic effects distribute all the products of your factories and production facilities. The air may smell clean inside your offices but have you ever been to one of the slums that service your mines?

(Schiwck takes a moment to painfully think back on his childhood home in an Ethiopian slum. By then Ethiopia had suffered a great defeat in the Water War of 2024. Starved of all water rights only the rich could even afford what would be called barely palatable by the rich Western countries. People died constantly from pollutants and disease. This argument must be won with logic, however, not emotion.)

Schwick: If proper measures are taken you can seperate the pollution from the environment. Your green economics would stifle most if all growth. At most a green economy can comfortably grow at .8 to 1.5% a year. Also, it would see a significant decrease in production inovation and human growth. We do not need to be conservative on a new planet. Free Market economies can be responsible and will enable the growth necessary to survive. Humans no longer have the luxury off being environmentally friendly.
Deidre: And they may later not have the often off being environmentally friendly. If we damage the ecosystem upon arriving on Planet, we may never have an oppurtunity to repair it. This time we may not be able to build a starship and find a new planet to destroy. Besides, the products of a free market is also wide spread income disparity and often greed. It was this kind of material and resource greed that lead to many of the wars on Earth. Many times it was private security coporations that engaged in these conflicts, and the parties involved were companies rather than nations!
Schiwck: So you are accusing me of starting the Congo Crisis in 2145 and the brush conflicts in Mozambique during the '50s? Lets not forget the 300 Megatons of nuclear weapons used by, Corporations? It was militants who launched the nukes, and militants who fought the wars in Africa. If you want someone to blame, look towards Santiago and her radical militia.
---------------------------------------------------------
We had some interesting discussion, but in the end we could never see eye-to-eye. Eventually we will meet in person again, but only if one of us is about to be killed.
------------------------------------------------------------

I already posted this at the top, but some people usually zoom to the last few posts. If you are interested in more rules and ****, go to the top and start reading.

Here is to new players who are reading this thread. I coudl possibly use one or two at most characters from Earth. I could definitely use five or six born on the unity. Lastly, the rest should really try to be Schwick loyalists who were born on Planet. Remember, where you came from will change your attitudes towards certain things.

Also, BlackAdder, I am making the story assumption that Omasis was born on the Unity. I hope this does not ruin or conflict with any part of his backstory or motives. If it does, PM me back so I can make the changes.

War must never be waged for any reason other then personal profit. Wars over religion, ideology, or over some nebulous “greater good” are counter-productive. These things merely cloud ones judgment, encouraging a “win at any cost” mentality. Never forget that war is a business! Businesses do not make decisions based on ideology or what is “right” they make decisions designed to maximize profit. Never forget that every man that is killed or wounded, every piece of equipment used during war cut into those profits. It is when a conflict ceases to be profitable, no matter how many battles that your armed forces win, that it can truly be said that you have lost the war.

OFFICE OF STRATEGOS INTERNAL MEMO
BLUE CODE SECURITY CLEARANCE
TO: COLONEL D.W. FORSWITH, 3RD OOS STRIKE FORCE
FROM: OFFICES OF STRATEGOS

The Corporation has decided to reassign you to Production Base 1. The local security commander has sighted possible hostile forces in the area. The Corporation has decided it is not profitable to assign any OOS Corporation forces to that area at this time. You are assigned in an advisory role only. Oversee the formation and training of enough native units to bring garrison strength up to at least two heavily armored units with trance capability if possible. The Corporation believes that war at this time would cut into profits so do not take any hostile actions. If the client allows ideology to cloud his judgment perhaps another, more profit-minded client should be found. If possible discreetly inquire into this with any contacts you might make on this mission.

To maximize profits as well as facilitate communication, the OOS (Office of Strategos) Corporation requests the founding of an OOS Headquarters. As security and military needs grow, additional bases may be required. As regards the sighting of Deidre forces near Production Base 1, it is Corporation position that at this time war would inadvisable from a military standpoint and would cut into profits.

Research into the areas of Mobility, Loyalty, and Intellectual Integrity are top Corporation objectives. If our client decides to war, better weapons and armor will take priority. Work with civilian researchers to make sure the Corporation gets their share of research grants.

Hey everybody, I like how this is going. Now that somemore people have joined I am going to try to increase the action somewhat.

1) You guys might recieve some PM from me. Usually they will be in the form of MEMOS of some kind. The purpose is to provide information that only you would have recieved or had a reason to recieve.
2) If you want to take any special actions such as try and assassinate someone else(power play) or steal files or anything covert, PM me about it first. I'll devise a system to determine how such plots go.
3) We are on Blind Research.
4) I need somemore advisors badly.
5) I am going to be moving for a few days and not able to moderate, so keep those back and side stories coming. New players are always welcome.

Comrade Schwick, I am certain that you are aware of the 4 forces that drive all civilizations: To discover, build, conquer, and expand. If we are to truley prosper on this world, we will need to develop in all areas. I suggest for now that we develop new means to explore and settle this vast new frontier. We must make priorities of the Rover chasis, and simple naval technologies. With these we will be able to chart and settle these lands with greater ease then without. I also recommend we begin extensive terraforming effort to ease the labors of the people. Finaly, I would like acces to the most recent inteligence information availible on the surrounding area. And be ever cautious of the Gaians.
