So, contrary to back in the days when I was playing RoM, I have yet to see a new resource appearing due to discovery from improvements like mines and farms since I started to play C2C.

Are there any requirements, beyond the obvious fact that you have to be able to see the resource on the map?
What are the chances, exactly, if someone can answer? 0,1% for example, or?
Do the chances vary by game length, like more frequent on normal and slower on snail, or something?
Am I just unlucky?

In my game, on the same turn, a mine struck Iron, another struck Lead, and a third discovered a quarryable source of Stone. It never rains but it pours. ;)

Mind you I have also had a Copper mine and a Quarry (as well as a nothing-in-particular mine - go figure) run out of resource...

Yeah, the weird ones are when mines find Stone, Marble, Obsedion or Salt. Then you have to go send workers to convert the improvement into a quary.

This is because you can't build a quarry anywhere but you can a mine. It was added in AND:RoM. I don't think we can do anything about it which is why mines provide the resource.

You could do it as an event that builds a quarry then, couldn't you?

I run jungle camps on every tile that I can, and I only managed to get one resource spawn in my most recent game. A ruby! I didn't realize Jungle Camps spawned mineral resources.

Well on most the maps I play the place is flooded with resources, so if there are resources you can't see does that remove the ability to find a resource on the tile, or how does that work?

was wondering same thing about great farmer ( one that spawns edible resources)

after a given time your city's will get ton's of new resources (and i am not playing with the Depletion on as that would annoy me greatly) just build Mines on every place you can and usually i also place farms outside of the 3 range of a City (not really a fan of Farms as they decrease Hammer production for a not so useful Food increase) like when you can place Farms in the Desert i just Farm every last tile i can of my Desert and in one game i gotten to the late modern era ruling my island alone (crushed all resistance) it's common to get like 1 recourse per turn there

Speaking personally, I would play with the "Resource Depletion" option on if the rate of resource spawns was increased. I have never actually played with it, but I have always feared for a barren world with two sad little mammoth resources hanging on in the north.

I think a bigger issue with resource depletion (though, admitidly I haven't tried it) would be the sudden loss of a culture due to a resource going dry.
