SnL-01 Follow the nose (It always knows)

Nice Brokering! Asked for currency, got that + phant action. Keeping Phil a monopoly is a good idea if only to stall the others from the lib race.

Will look over the save and post thoughts. From appearances though it looks like quality whack next turn til those red fists arrive.

Will play tonight though, once the sun is safely set.

Cheers!

Super boring turns, a short version here:

Spoiler :
the economy doesn't suck!
so many bananas to hook up!
Civil will take 14ish turns
Build cats and axes
name silly names for workers in need of silly names. why so silly?
yay, courthouses being built
omg nooooo, barb galley!
scientist and light bulbs!
Civil!
hand save to silver and collapse.

Preturn:900 AD
ok so economy is looking much better

Great lighthouse has been built far away, and sally gets the mahabodhi btw

Civil Engineering makes sense so long as we aren't at war. 6 turns bleeding under just under 100 gpt

SnL-01900ADeconohmy.jpg

keeping 0% slider for now at a comical 63 turns. :p

See Aryan is building a bud temple instead of a tao monastery... ok he pre :smoke:'ed that one so no comment.

Since it's been a while and we added a pack of new towns, screen shot time.

Without resource tags getting in the way.
Spoiler :
SnL-01900ADmapsansres.jpg

With resource tags so the town placement makes more sense.
Spoiler :
SnL-01900ADmapwithres.jpg

Yeah, an amazingly fun border for silver to protect, isn't it? The only way we did that was with all those gems + hax barracks.

Need to pop more workers and military in the east, work on core infra in the west.

mmmm need silly names.

SnL-01900ADBigboard.jpg

scoreboard's nibbly bits pretty much stayed the same entire turnset. Power ratios with monty and sally remained about the same despite so many axes and cats. oh and not a single red fist.

[1]920 AD
Ulundi finishes forge, worker in 3 sounds good.
umGun finishes courthouse, worker in 4 hehe.

workers are running to various calender tiles, bananas first.

[2]940 AD
Anasazi (red dot) gets its courthouse so place it on a fast tao monastery.

Look around at trades but not much out there. Silver snapped up all the good stuff.

Asoka adopts vassalage... uh huh.
Hanging garden falls far away.

[3]960 AD
Aryan finishes it's bud temple so I place it on a 10 turn library for the culture, not to mention the town is working mass cottages now that I look at it.

SnL-01960ADAryan.jpg

You know, this might make a good oxford town since monty isn;t putting up much of a fight culture wise. Its growing into those cottages as fast as worker abuse can be spared to put up more.

Have a ways to go before we have to decide.

Seems monty is building military again as he's back to .6 ratio. a few workers coming online soon so back to military.

BurGUNdian (what the hell is with all these gun names, game trying to tell us something?) finished its trifecta of core buildings so it starts on kwahaha's workboat since that town is still on its granary.

Seems a fire swept though delhi's forests =)

[4]980 AD
Ulundi pops uh... no idea what worker names are taken...

ok "Indebtedness" it is as we need to balance frustration back towards embarrassment. Telling you, no one else min maxes worker names like silver n liq do!

get it to working the eastern 'nanas!

Get capital on a 2.1 turn cat. Nice hammers in this place and the food isn;t online yet. Sooon my precious.

Still cannot go balls to wall on civil with only 191 gold in bank.

[5]1000 AD
ug, a barb galley appears near kwahaha, chasing an idian work boat.

SnL-011000ADdammedwaterbarbs.jpg

umGun builds Shaka's "Dilemma" and is onto a fast cat. The town is stagnant at size 8 and its tiles are done with what needed to get improved, so moving the worker north.

Marginaldot/Nongoma finishes its granary while stagnant at size two hehe. 10 turns on hax barracks. It was called marginal dot for a reason, but it's tiles are being improved and civil is soon.

Nobamba finishes cat, onto a fast axe.

Place more farm markers. Watch as more sally missionaries flood over our borders.

Parthenon BIFL.

[6]1010 AD
Bulwtf/izzy dot finishes its hax barracks and place it on a 60! turn courthouse... uh take the hill back fro that berGUNdy crap, especially now that there's a barb on the clams at kwahaha. 30 turns now, gonna clear cut more of that jungle.

Avar finishes its courthouse saving us lotta cash. 3 turn axe. It's bananas went online here as well as in ulundi! holy food surplus batman.

Seems that we took Basra's copper....

Will road to it now that bananas are coming online as it's gonna be awhile til kwahaha's own copper is online. Do not expect to keep it long as we have no direct cultural pressure on the tile and sally's uber library insane culture is probably about to go legendary.

Not sure what to do about the barb galley. Going to have to build it at berGUNdy or kwahaha. The lesser of the two guns is already helping out by building kwahaha's workboat and it needs to get on to bigger better things... like a courthouse. I guess kwahaha needs to pop the blasted thing as it can sit around working that gold to pay for itself. haxrax is next but that spice chop will finish it ... not that fast but well, not a foreveraxe like some places.

[7]1020 AD
Ulundi builds cat -> cat in 3, major food coming online so gonan let the town grow.

Barb galley punked the indian workboat trapped by our culture.

[8]1030 AD
umGum cat -> axe in 3
kwahahaha finishes it's barracks.... trireme in 14ish after a chop from the spices getting plantation'ed. Gonna slowly head over to the copper, as kwahaha is about to pop borders.

[9]1040 AD
Finally! can kill civil in 5 turns with nominally 50 gold to spare.. 90% it is.

Nobamba axe -> axe in 3
Avar axe -> worker in 3 as it has a lot of jungled calendar of it's own to kill.

Ulundi finally has both bananas working so gonna need to mine the remaining hills. +6 food going around for 6 or so grass +1 plains hill mines. The town has a river for levy fun and most of its forests intact seeing as we never needed to chop out settlers or wonders. Ironworks for sure here.

[10]1050 AD
Ulundi finished a cat, 2 turn worker for it's own tiles is in order.
Anasazi finished it's tao monastery so go on a 6 turn miss for the capital.

Sally crash lands free bud into burGUNdy. Thanks man.

[11]1060 AD
umGun axe -> axe in 2
burGUNdy pops it's workboat (which has to hide in town for now) and moves onto courthouse in a nominal 30ish. Worker abuse is on the way!

[12]1070 AD
Ulundi finishes "awkwardness", go on a 4 turn temple for the priest slots.
Nobamba axe -> axe in 4... silver can build the infra for once.
Avar worker (Destitution) -> walls in 4 (why not)
Marginal/nongoma haxrax -> courthouse in 12ish?

WTH

AP is BIFL while 3/4 civs here are spiritual nuts. whatever.

BurGUNdy gets its bananas online and it's off to the races for the former barb town. 2 workers now in the area, building some mines for it since food is taken care of.

[13]1080 AD
umGun axe-> axe in 3
Aryan gets its library same turn it pops for the 3rd time. yay! The town is pushing 6 culture a turn now so onto a 14 turn courthouse. up to size 11 with a dedicated worker spamming cottages. Not an amazing amount of food surplus but almost all its tiles are food neutral.

WOW, monty's power is now .7 to us again....

we get another gs, bulbing compass.

SnL-011080ADgs2.jpg

let's hold that thought a moment.

[14]1090 AD
Finally, after the long road of paranoid glaces at the dip info..
SnL-011090CivilService.jpg

so now that we can see paper, the GS prefers paper/education/liberalism over compass... so long as we stay away from optics and machinery.

next is due in 32 turns so not likely to help us bulb again.

Paper is an easily sustainable 8 turns at 40% science, total -3 gpt with 88 in bank

Best plan here is just kill off paper traditionally and use the bulb on education, since we know the gs' beakers will not be wasted on it.

workboat is being held hostage in berGUNdy waiting on kwahaha to kill it with fire. let the effing galley attack the trireme please so it gets the coastal bonus...

Scientist is still in umGun pointing at paper/education/liberalism

Road the wheat in avar's BFC for red dot's health issues and can trade dye for deer/sheep/gpt prolly from sally. Spices too eventually, since we'll have two.

Man, nothing is happening, which is good for us I guess as we are growing silly fast pre civil. 11 workers now, can use a few more.

Come on Monty, attack India

Tradewise, india already has civil, sally machinery, trade it with caution as maces and protective xbows are fun.

Ok finally found it, machinery only blocks bulbing liberalism, not education. Education is like 5th on the overall list of techs great scientists love. Metal Casting needs to be avoided if we want to bulb liberalism itself so we are out of that option...

Ok, going to make a long story short.

The short version is: we got owned

The slightly longer version.

Monty went after Asoka a few turns into my set, and then Sally decided to go all Red Fist on us, with us at 0.5 power on him despite constant military builds. Soon he DoWed on us and crashed into umgun with a series of stacks. Managed to beat off the first two with significant casualties, but he finally steamrolled our forces there (despite stuff like strategic withdrawl to deny him the CR promotions).

We managed a slight victory in being able to capture Basra from him, but it was costly due to his protectiveness. End result is he has a stack of around 30 units camped in umgun, and we have maybe 20 units total left in our empire. He has Guilds and Engineering on us, so is fielding massed Camels that we can do nothing about.

So long story short; we massively overextended ourselves, and Sally having basically half the continent to himself did not help things.

Well was about time for us to suffer a catastrophic loss on the scale of Boff-02 (rollover by Monty fielding tanks against our machine guns >.<). On to the next round of embarrassing miscues and RNG disasters.

In other words, we were spineless wimps who refused to take bud to placate all but Monty.

So much fun! Maybe now people understand our worker's nomenclature.

Which AI is the biggest pos wet noodle leader out there silver?

Cheers!
-Liq

1090AD (169):

Well, playing a waiting game mostly it looks like. Red fists appearing would be a sure sign of something happening, so we're mostly going to be playing the infragame until a nice opportunity comes to annex some poor AI's land. Who that poor AI happens to be depends on what they decide to do.

So 8 nominal turns on paper at 40% sci losing 3gpt. 88 gold in the bank and lots of infra projects coming soonish, so expect to help those a bit. Bulbing Edu afterward and onto Lib, we'll see what trades we can swing in the meantime.

So cruising through the towns for somoe minor MMing, places still need a lot of work and we still don't have enough workers, yay. Will work on that problem. Need to get Avar's wheat hooked up posthaste, as that's worth +2 health in all cities, and we're starting to push on caps.

Readjust Nobamba to stagnant and make the next GS in 28 turns, as opposed to 32 from red dot. We have no workers around Nobamba and no more improved tiles to work, so no loss.

1100AD (170):

A great spy pops somewhere as Monty moves to Bureaucracy????? O.o What in tarnations did they do to Monty???

Decide to unstagnant Nongoma and just make it grow, only costing us 2.8 gold maint right now and the courts will take too long. Want it growing because it's tiles are not horrible.

1110AD (171):

Asoka begins a golden age as he and Sally will both trade machinery now. An important consideration for the future.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd............

set7montyredfist.jpg

That's the Monty we all know and lov... er... hate...

Let's just pray he's NOT coming for us (annoyed and all...)

Sending the troops to the north border just in case...

Ulundi's bud temple finished, and well, cap needs not much so dial up a 2 turn cat.

umgun finished an axe and has plenty of troops. Going to order a quick impi just in case before dialing a forge.

Nobamba's axe finished and looking for commerce here so dialing a market.

Anasazi's missionary finished and heads towards Ulundi. This place doesn't have enough troops, but production sucks in itself, so dial some walls and will get troops from elsewhere.

Avar's walls finished and we totally don't have enough improved tiles here. Dial a forge as we'll be looking production here.

1120AD (172):

WAR HORNS!

Monty DoWs on Asoka heheh... saw that one coming.

Monty earns himself "worst enemyhood" of Sally again as well, yay.

Missionary fails in Ulundi, boo. Guess need to build another...

Thinking Monty seems like a great dogpile target, so moving troops up to red dot and aryan.

1130AD (173):

Asoka shows up looking for Phil as a gift, I don't think so buddy. Take a hike.

Aryan breaks through the health cap as I clearly wasn't watching oops. It's still growing, lol. Need to get that wheat hooked up, but it won't be happening if hostilities start.

Ulundi finishes a cat and I dial up a sword.

umgun's impi finishes and we dial for a forge.

Monty drops to last place in score, hehe...

1140AD (174):

Kwahaha's trireme finally finishes so it sets out to bait the barb galley. Get it onto a lighthouse to survive off the water.

Moved the GS to Ulundi for better protection.

1150AD (175):

The trireme gets attacked by the barb galley and wins, so BurGUN's workboat comes out.

Ulundi's Sword is done and about to push health caps so drop in a duct.

1160AD (176):

Shedwagon Papaya is BIAFL while Saladin moves to Theo, ok...

Ulundi's rice is now irrigated, so have to be careful of growth here, lol.

Avar's forge finishes and it's soon to hit caps, but cultural fight with Monty means we'll plop in a library first.

Paper next turn, snooze. Then we can broker.

1170AD (177):

set7papernbulb.jpg

Blah, not a complete bulb. Onto edu for 10 turns >.<.

Safe to trade stuff now that the bulb has been expended.

Uh, ok missing screens for some reason, but picked up Theo, Machinery, Feud, and HBR, along with some random cash and a map from Asoka and Sally.

The Asoka trade is clearly much better than the Sally trade, but yeah. We need tech!

Gonna binary tech Edu before handing it off to Liq.

Ulundi finished some military build which I cannot recall now. Dial up a Crossbow.

Take a break to go for Thanksgiving dinner. Yay for being Canadian!

----

Ahh... ok that took a while. Back to the game...

So S.ilver had this bright idea that we should cash in on other people's hostilities and attack them while they were fighting. S.ilver clearly did not take into account that this is :smoke:. One, our units are woefully out of date. Two, we are not really behind in tech, so no need to go roll people over. Three, we are aggressive and our best units start in the gunpowder age. So shoot S.ilver for thinking like a fool. Must be images of Civ5 clouding judgement.

Notice now with Liq's comment that there is an unnamed worker. Whoops. Shaka's "Peevishness" ok, all better.

Take Deer and Sheep from Sally for our Bananas and Dyes. We needed the health. He had wheat too, but we're hooking that up in a few turns.

1180AD (178):

Asoka gets a great General as Monty falls to 0.8 power with us, heh.

Kwahaha's fishies are up, so going to start growing a bit faster now.

Anasazi's walls went up, dial for a longbow to phase out old garrisons.

1190AD (179):

One of Sally's spies is caught around umgun, blah, about time I guess. Time to get some of our own trained.

Ulundi's crossbow finishes and dial a courthouse to save us 1 gold and on account we can always use EPs.

Liq informs me I was :smoke:ing and forgot to hire priests in Ulundi. Whoops. Well I guess we need a shrine, so do that. Oh crud, only one priest slot here, lol. Ok well make Aryan do it then as it has both religions, and a second temple is only 8 turns (after the courts).

1200AD (180):

Big news turn!

set7sallyredfist.jpg

Well, moving massed troops south fast. Hopefully this doesn't get ugly too fast...

1210AD (181):

WAR HORNS!

set7sallyDoW.jpg

We have two large stacks incoming at umgun and Nobamba, uh oh. Sally also poisoned various towns, blah.

Ok, well we all knew this was going to happen eventually.

I give Monty bananas for 6gpt, on account of we need much cash to upgrade troops it looks like.

1220AD (182):

Stack coming for Nobamba seems to have turned around, but the stack coming for umgun is still here, so buyout some upgrades.

1230AD (183):

Monty comes looking for help in his war against India. Maybe in a bit mate, we're a bit busy right now.

Courts done in Burgun, so dial for a library.

umgun was totally zeroed by Sally, but he doesn't actually have enough troops to take the city. Going to take the casualties, as incoming forces are on their way.

1240AD (184):

Sally hits us with basically everything he's got.

set7firstarabianattack.jpg

Ouch!

I sacrifice the cat in umgun to take the crossbow down a bit so it's more manageable for our troops.
Then two of our horse archers take down their targets and flank attack the catapults in the stack. Ugh.

kwa's lighthouse is done, courthouse for cash savings.

Avar's mace is done, dial for an HA.

Ulundi HA is done, dial another HA.

1250AD (185):

We lose two more units in Umgun as Sally still has troops to shell, sigh...

Horrible, horrible rolls as some of our superfluous units take huge damage attacking the Sally stack and kill nothing, but we end up cleaning out all the enemies. Here's the log.

Need units badly, sigh...

Can get Edu next turn by jacking up science, so gonna do that.

Somehow survived that, so going to get more cats and hopefully take the fight to Sally.

1260AD (186):

Sally blows up a mine at umgun as Asoka continues to wonder spam while being at war. No idea.

set7edu.jpg

Set on Lib, showing as a nominal 17 turns at break even science, we'll worry a bit about that later.

Embed the GG we got last turn into Ulundi for better XPs.

1270AD (187):

Sally finishes Angkor Wat. He also has guilds in 2, ugh.

1280AD (188):

Moving troops en masse to umgun.

1290AD (189):

Monty shows up and demands Ivory from us. He's already busy, but we really don't need more enemies here right now, so give it to him.

Anasanzi gets some culture event; we pay 14 gold to boost culture, sure.

Sally cooking up gunpowder in 18, great.

1300AD (190):

I make an executive decision again to evacuate umgun. We'll try and use CR Cats to take it back.

1310AD (191):

Sally takes the city, and we strike back, but don't have enough forces to sieze the city. Here's the result.

1320AD (192):

We take the city back and slaughter most of Sally's troops.

And I abandon it again because more badguys are incoming and I want to shred them inside a town. Yes, I've gone completely nuts.

1330AD (193):

Amazingly, Sally's troops don't take back the town. Huh? He does enter a golden age though, so problems incoming for us (sigh)

1340AD (194):

Unit shuffle dance as the enemies appear to be coming from the other direction now.

1350AD (195):

Going to try something daring and attack Basra with both stacks. Probably will go poorly, but we need to distract Sally and unite the stacks.

1360AD -> 1400AD (200):

Well, monster stack of Sally's coming so didn't take good notes. Suffice to say that Sally finally talked. He wanted umgun for peace, but I switched in paper and he took it, so we'll live a bit longer.

Well, extremely bad form but used the 1400AD autosave as S.ilver didn't have the sense to save the game after getting pummeled. Liq can call :smoke: on S.ilver for not revolting Bud after Monty went after Asoka (for an easy pleased with Sally). Sorry the report is a mess, but was busy getting butchered and losing hope. Liq says we can still salvage the game, so let's see what InfraLiq can do to save the day!

Preturn:1400 AD
Oh my, what nightmare did silver leave us with, do we have a shot at lib or is even lost?

we are under revolt going to bud on my orders so need to clear though all the queues next turn..

Nobamba builds a phant, get on an x bow for garrison.
Aryan builds a cat and.... get on a university for God's sake hehe

A ton of movement from wartime fun.

My turn set's idea is this: can we get to pleased with Sally before peace ends... gonna be close and going to require some luck.

Place Capital on a 2.1ish turn settler. Cannot get it to 2.

Running this settler to tundraland and liberalism are gonna consume the bulk of my attention this round.

[1]1410 AD
Looking though the log to see what I missed...
Sally's golden age ended 1390 AD rofl... man silver.
Divine right was founded in a foreign land in 1340. good
No sign of lib getting taken so onto lib again..

Lets see, economy is back to normal at +87 gold per turn unit cost is only 18, so no need to pare down what silver conjured. Have 372 gold in Bank, 0% slider for the push to lib. All told, gonna take 9ish turns.

Open up talks with Sally, Open orders and trade our gems bananas and dye for his deer sheep and wine.

There's no unhappys or sickness etc
capital is on a 3 turn settler destination tundra land. If any is left.

Fire the spy in aryan and its growing next turn.

Fire more spies and notice izzy dot is completely dejungled! Huzzah!
Worker abuse is almost done with irrigation, calendar and fixing pillaged crap. Next round is gonna be lumber mills and then rails looks like.

If we keep peace we'll be ok.

Final tally is +95 gold a turn, but lost some turns at 0% beakers! oh my.

[2]1420 AD
BerGundy builds forge and onto... a 4 turn light house, town is doing well.

[3]1430 AD
Chop for irrigation comes in so umGun builds its hax rax and ug.... granary forge and courthouse left.. get on a 1 turn Monument and 6 turn library for the culture. Debate a wall and slot that in first, 2 turns for that.

Notice capital is missing its bananas, well I get a nearby worker on that

[4]1440 AD
Red dot builds a cat, onto a market.
Avar builds a mace get on a 3 turn bud monastery.

Sally revolts caste and there's some great generals being born overseas hehe.

We have the gold for Liberalism in 5, so I punch the slider. Seems 0% science knocked a turn off of it.

[5]1440 AD
Cap pops its settler to finish it's forevercourthouse in 1. that courthouse was slotted in long ago.

This is gonna be close with the settler.

[6]1450 AD
Monty ends war.. not good.
Sistine is built far far away though, so good!

Capital is on some weak military hehe.

If Monty dow's on us, we are so effed.

Sally getting engineering next turn. yay.

[7]1460 AD
Event Luck in Aryan, but have to take the non cash event because we needed lib ten turns ago. That +1 beaker to library would have been nice.

SnL-011460ADaryan.jpg

The detail on the left is the last remaining tile in Aryan's BFC. We will get that tile as it's gained about 20% culture on +6 a turn alone and university is half again that cultural pressure. Culture was the only reason aryan was discounted from wall street or oxford, since it's getting no competition from monty, it's going to own its entire bfc.

Not keeping track of builds on account game might be ending soon if operation deep 6 doesn't work.

[8]1470 AD
nail biter, lib is almost 1 turn

SnL-011470ADLib.jpg

Cannot force it hehe.

[9]1480 AD
so 2 turns remaining on peace when...

SnL-011480ADOndini.jpg

and

SnL-011480ADDeepsix.jpg

profit! Sally is pleased.

Sally is 100% no dow at pleased. After all those antics, maybe we are safe? Regardless, troops go north to deal with Monty.

I place slider back to 0% pulling in 110 gold a turn.

A big sigh of relief all around.

[10]1490 AD
All around whew.

SnL-011490ADLiberalism.jpg

take

SnL-011490ADNationalism.jpg

So look at trades and do the following...

SnL-011490ADAsokaTrade.jpg

Odd, Asoka can trade map on the turn he trades paper.

SnL-011490ADCompass.jpg

Sally partially hit education so I take this:

SnL-011490ADSallyTrade.jpg

SnL-011490ADAes.jpg

Back fill, but needed for music for miltrad.

SnL-011490ADGuilds.jpg

Guilds is major as we want banking->printing press -> replaceable parts asap.

Gearing up to take this continent out, now that we live another day.

Whew. Guess I can read silvers turn set now

Cheers!

Took 20, monty has been red fisty for uh 6ish turns and massing troops ratio wise, but isn't anywhere near our borders. Dunno!

No matter, finished something and left some toys just for the :hammer:

Meh, Liq posts too fast :crazyeye:

1490AD (209):

We are somehow still alive! And others are flower sniffing the tech tree for us so we might be ok later too!

Alright, so general idea is to get to replacable parts to boost our pathetic hammers.

So do a bit of micro with the towns, then realize it's probably moot, because we're flipping Civics.

So Revolt to Free Speech and Theo (just so we can make Sally more happy) for the low price of 1 turn of anarchy.

1500AD (210):

Out of anarchy and eeking slightly more gold.

Asoka has nothing of remotely fair value to give us for Edu, so going to ignore him there for a bit.

1505AD (211):

Blah, it looks like Asoka and Sally traded each other Nat and Edu, so no trade power left for us, sigh...

Finally getting around to fixing the massive issues with our road infra now that basic stuff is done in most of our cities.

Burgun finished a Bud monastery, it's commerce sucks, so dial a uni strictly for the culture. And we need 6 unis for the Ox anyways.

Do this deal with Asoka.

set8asokalibtrade.jpg

Go to Sally to try and do a deal and he is WFYABTA mode, great.

1510AD (212):

Sally on banking in 2, great...

We're basically toast if this continues (which it will) but let's play it out anyways.

1515AD (213):

Saladin finished UoS for even more runaway fun. We'll get some incoming refund but ugh.

umgun's library finished and it grew, get on a university.

1520AD (214):

set8bankings.jpg

We win 36 gold from our failed UoS build, lol.

kwa finishes a temple, and more culture here is better obviously. Dial a cheap theatre. Hey, they are really cheap. All towns could use them on account of all being border towns (except marginal dot, doh!).

1525AD (215):

Marginal Dot grows again as Sally adopts Merc and we lose trade routes with him p0...

1530AD (216):

Sally came out of WFYABTA mode so do this trade.

set8sallylibtrade.jpg

Switch umgun to a 3 turn boat to get out there and find the others. Burgun on a 4 turn boat. Actually scratch that on Burgun. Upgrade trust Trireme 1 of Kwahaha to a caraval for 50 gold.

1535AD (217):

Asoka won't trade Divine Right, snooze...

Trireme 1 gets moving.

Ulundi done the uni, spam out a 1 turn stable for 3 promo cavs later maybe (if we live that long).

Kwa's theatre finished, onto a library.

GS next turn for teh bulb.

1540AD (218):

Pop Bohr and immediately light him up for an almost done PP.

set8ppbulb.jpg

Science to the hilt to finish it next turn.

Next GP is something questionable from Avar in 58 ugly turns.

Ulundi's stable is up, and nothing is pressing so dial longbows to replace garrisons.

1545AD (219):

We meet the confused Gilgamesh, who apparently sailed to find us as Trireme 1 hasn't hit land yet.

set8confusedgilga.jpg

He immediately offers us the outrageous deal of wanting a bag of cash + drama for music. No thanks. Mess around with things and get him to do this outrageous deal.

set8gilgamaptrade.jpg

Take it before he comes to his senses and realizes he is giving Circumnav away . The game LAGS as we get the map. Last 2 civs are America and Byzantine.

set8printingpress.jpg

Parts in 5, but doing binary, so say... 7 or 8?

Avar's uni is done, dial a theatre for the culture.

1550AD (220):

Sally moves to friendly.

set8sallyfriendly.jpg

WTH, S.ilver takes HUGE :smoke:, we could have avoided that whole fight.

Ulundi LB finishes, dial another and replace the aging archer there.

1555AD (221):

Gilga shows up looking for Phil as a gift; was going to tell him to take a hike, but Liq said the tech is trash so give it to him. WTH indeed; check this out.

set8gilgapleased.jpg

It gave additional trade relations AND you gave us help bonus. Admittedly some of that might have been from the map trade (which was a steal for us as we can now maybe land circumnav), but omg... free pleased.

Sally demands we cancel deals with Monty. Sure! Oh I forgot to take away his free ivory anyways... Thanks Sally!

We say hi to Justinian, who is Jewish and apparently more upset at us than Gilga is.

set8justin.jpg

He has nothing for us except DR, which he is hiding, snooze. He is selling his map for 5 gold, so just do it for a bit of extra, maybe up to date intel.

Avar's theatre is done, dial a temple.

1560AD (222):

We are now the new worst enemy of Monty. Man, we just HOPE he attacks us.

Ulundi Longbow->Longbow as we phase out garrisons.

Aryan uni done, go for some quick Walls now that Monty doesn't like us :P.

1565AD (223):

Sally shows up and he wants PP and some cash for Gunpowder. No thanks. Seems he doesn't know Gilga yet, and Gilga is still hiding powder and is missing lots of tech. Will sit on it...

Ulundi Longbow->Longbow... you get the picture.

1570AD (224):

Gilga wants OB... Have yet to meet America so decline for now for no penalty.

Good news and Bad News.

set8events.jpg

The good news is, we managed to cheese Circumnav, lol. Thanks Gilga! The bad news is Monty completed some quest having to do with defense. That is never good.

Burgun's uni completes, so dial a cheap theatre.

We have enough money to finish out Parts, so doing it now.

1575AD (225):

Trying to get the boat up to meet America. They are probably backwards being stuck in what looks like tundra + desert.

Ulundi Longbow->Longbow again!

umguns uni finished, need culture back here so dial a theatre.

Avar's temple finished, the place makes respectable cash and we need a bit of happy here after troops walk out, so dial a market.

Kwa's library finished, dial a forge as nothing is pressing and it has decent hammers.

1580AD (226):

set8repparts.jpg

BUG Log lets me know last AI is Lincoln who builds the spiral minaret. This despite me not meeting him yet.

set8lincolnminaret.jpg

Yay, ok dial up Gunpowder for a sustainable 3 turns at -20 gold bleed.

We meet Lincoln (lol) who is Jewish yet seems to not care at all.

set8lincoln.jpg

He's pretty much in the same boat techwise as Gilga.

Well, close to Gunpowder, so stopping the longbow spam as gunpowder units benefit from our aggressive trait. Taj somehow not built yet, so 20 turns in Ulundi. Probably not practical, but whatever we can use the cash anyways.

So diplo situation on the other continent. Everyone is either pleased or cautious with each other. Gilga actually hates Monty, who he just met, more than anyone on his home continent. But hey, it's Monty!

1585AD (227):

Peace ends with Sally as Gilga shows up and asks to trade maps. No thanks, caravels are on autoexplore now that we know everyone/have circumnav.

Everyone wants to trade divine right, on account of Lincoln finishing Versailles, snooze.

umgun's theatre finishes, dial a temple for more culture in that direction.

Red dot's market finishes, dial a grocer on account of needing health.

Aryan's walls go up and we dial for a Theatre.

Burgun's theatre done, go for a cheap harbour for health.

1590AD (228):

Folks still trying to trade Divine Right, sigh...

4 towns grew this turn, so gonna take a quick look at towns in general. Everything looks ok.

Gilga managed to pass up Sally in points, wow.

1595AD (229):

set8powder.jpg

Sally shows up looking to trade maps, no thanks.

Oh, can see power rating on Gilga now too.... 0.5 lol. And Monty moves to Furious with us. No red fist yet!

Dial up Rifling next for Liq to take home while he continues to buff the lands.

umgun's bud mon finishes, bud temple next.

Preturn:1595 AD
So we got our nice and quiet as silver hogged turns. See the entire other continent and no one over there hate each other despite wars... odd.

No one hates us for being bud either seeing as we have the right mix of questionable civics.

Silver cleaned house with trades so nothing there for now. I do open borders with all 3 of them though for the dip and eventual trade.

Rifles in about 12 nominal. Nominal barring 'fun' of course, as the economy is now pulling in 218 gpt at 0% and we need about 1000 gold to rush rifling.

I hijack the auto explore caravel as it has nothing left to explore. I send it to bust the fog around monty's shore before punking it.. oh the horror.

[1]1600 AD
Nobamba finishes a uni of questionable value for the 6th built. That means Aryan can start on oxford though its hammers are weak without mills going. 4 turn worker as this town is gonna pump them out all set prolly.

BerGun finishes harbor and is onto a... 4 turn worker as well, Gonna need many more workers for when rails come online.

Marginal dot finishes forge and onto a uh.... 8 turn library as the town has some commerce and needs to keep growing.

Move a few workers towards bul and aryan, as they need all the hammers they can get via mills.

Asoka has astrology but replaceable parts + 200 gold isn't enough .

[2]1605 AD
More worker movement! joy.

notice sally has gold to trade so...no dice on begging. Damn.

[3]1610 AD
Umgun finished it's bud temple, move it onto... any guess? 2 turn worker.

Aryan finished theater onto a 36ish turn oxford... about to get mills online + a possible golden age here, so it will speed up. figure 20ish.

[4]1615 AD
Catch a spy in avar, same turn it finishes its market. I dial up a two turn spy to combat that nonsense. Gonna crank out a lot of these to garrison in towns.

First mill comes online at bul, hurrah! up to 9 hammers there .

Asoka will trade astronomy for replaceable parts + 500 gold... guh.. so want though..

Switch to Astronomy fast to plunk some 0% beakers into it to soften trade. Next turn is balls to wall rifling...

Seems Sally is up to +5 just for bud now... nice.

[5]1620 AD
3 workers pop from the usual suspects and re-up for 3 more. 6 additional total will work. need names....... arg

Aryan gets the theater blows up event, not worth the screen. Pay 45 gold to keep the building.

First mill up at Aryan, oxford in 32... big help.

Save 50 gold on that silly astronomy trade, will pull it off as we need the trade. Astro now, beats Astro later.

Call up Asoka again to check out astronomy which we really want for a few reasons. 450 gold + replaceable parts and our map meh... no! it's 470 gold now but no map... rather pay the 20 gold extra and keep the map.

SnL-011620ADAstro.jpg

Yap gained over 20 gold a turn just from the new trade routes but that's not the only reason I wanted astro so much.

I call everyone up..

SnL-011620ADJustinianresources.jpg

SnL-011620ADLinkresources.jpg

SnL-011620ADGilgresources.jpg

Only thing other than wonder rocks we are lacking is silver looks like. Oh, where ever shall we find silver in a jungle RNG Gods?

Astro delays rifling a turn or two.

[6]1625 AD
The caravel is pretty much done unless we want to bust fog on open water, so I give it to monty for giggles.

[7]1630 AD
Nothing happening other than buildings finishing and pushing workers around.

Asoka has con now, could Prolly trade for it, delaying rifling hehe.

Whatever, rifling in 5 now that there's over 1k in bank.

Oxford down to 25 turns now that 2nd mill it up.

gaining culture on that tile Aryan wants! Just gained 2% for 40.

Workers coming out of umgun are seriously upset. "Anger" "Frustration" and "Rage" take their aggressions out on the poor forests around the war torn city. What did Sally do to them?

Workers coming out of berGUN though seem happy in their "Bliss" and "Innocence"

[8]1640 AD
Pull out a trade further delaying rifling :D.

SnL-011640ADConstitution.jpg

missed screen and forgot how much and with whom but rest assured it cost us lots of cash. It was either justin or link so who cares.

Gilg has chem and sci method for trade but wants like 3x beakers worth in trade... eff that.

science back to 0% hehe.

Notice India is pleased with us now, so you know what that means

200 gold from She male isn;t enough to cover delaying rifling tho hehe.

so I figure why not and delay rifles a bit more, this time though for a very special detour.

SnL-011640ADChemistry.jpg

Cannot beg the cash back though I tried!

SnL-011640ADChemtech.jpg

With Chem secured, maybe you know what's after rifling, though I really don't wanna know how many turns that is at now hehe. A critical tech for sure though as it leads to all manner of fun toys.

[9]1645 AD
Back to 100% beakers, rifling in 4, yes maybe can get econ, no not looking!

[10]1650 AD
Asoka went free market and monty's golden age ended tho

I just notice that berGUN's only garrison since we took the town from sid is still there.

SnL-011650ADWheresroy.jpg

Thanks Siegfried!

[11]1655 AD
More growing, less excitement.

[12]1660 AD
 Justine begs 450 gold and It doesn't take long for me to figure out it's best to just let the freak have it. Overall its a good event for us since it's not too much gold by this point and, with the fair trade bonus kicking in, it's major diplomacy. +5 overall dip is keen, we are now pleased with him despite -5 for religion and I just opened trade, so those modifiers haven;t taken effect yet.

This of course delays rifling again.

[13]1665 AD
oh noes, sally converts to state property . He gets Communism for more spy points.

I can place science at 30% to finally kill rifling next turn.. for all that abuse, only 1.3 turns off my estimate.

24 hammers went into oxford from an out of bfc chop. 14 turns only to get better.

big turn coming up... snoooooze.
[14]1670 AD

SnL-011675ADRifling.jpg

The hammer cometh!

the Other big news (and reason you heard nothing coming out of Ulundi...

SnL-011675ADTaj.jpg

WTH?

1670 AD taj... no idea how or why but 8 turns of golden age. I hem and haw and decide steel next to give silver some hammer options. Uh 6ish golden turns.

Oxford in 9 golden turns but well golden is only 8. I tweak some things and get it in 8.

YAY, monty is red fist finally now so pumping out some rifles.

No civics to revolt to so onward to watch Monty crowd us.

[15]1675 AD
No idea what's going on... no monty troops massing on our borders.

100% beakers on steel then.

Hope I don;t lose mass jobless workers trying to nail the last mills around avar.

[16-19]1680- AD
snooze Monty building up furiously...

The thing about having 10+ towns, all of whom have bfc's roughly 90% food neutral, is that they never really stop growing. very odd to get spammed with town after town growing into improvements set down thousands of years ago.

Anyway, lot of whack next turn, shuffle new rifles up to Monty's borders.

[20]1700 AD
Ushering in the industrial era...

SnL-011700ADSteel.jpg

Hardware for Silver to upgrade and over 400 in the bank still.

Just to add more popups, The RNG tosses a Tornado and kills the spices at avar. bored workers jump on that.

That wasn't the only event though, we get a VERY strange pop, considering it's the jungle man. Not so strange though it hit our hammer town...

SnL-011700ADSilver.jpg

I'll take the minus 1 hammer for 5ish free commerce and multiple happys.

Helps against the emancipation America popped I guess.

Workers have almost nothing to do until rails btw, so group em up in triplets and chill; Avar might have some tiles to work on but isn't safe.

Gonna assume Monty is about to throw metric tons of trash our way but hasn;t showed his hand at all past a knight and elephant. He might be going after Asoka seeing as monty is random that way, but no point relying on it. Might want to run a spy in there to see things.

Golden ends in two as Oxford finishes (yay) as well as avar's grabbag great person. Watch it be the 1% spy and not the majority scientist. If it is the scientist I'd say place an acad in bul. If it's the eng, hold it for wonder or mining inc. we can afford that corp with hax rax even tho we are going state prop most likely. 5ish hammer per town isn;t bad.

So keeping science 0% now makes sense all round. Pulling in 450ish gpt during this golden age and mace to rifle is about 150 gold. Cat to cannon is 170ish? lol WTH indeed.

Had Monty been massing troops at the borders, I'd have handed the save over sooner. You get to play with cannons now tho so all worth it eh.

We might be middling in tech, but hell if the guy about to suicide on us isn't far worse off!

Oh and even year send off! eat your heart out silver.

Cheers!
-Liq

Hogged too many turns. Mental note to make Liq hog some more turns. Screens might be totally messed up because I can't remember what was going on O.o

1700AD (250):

Preflight check. I see a ton of trades on the board, so let's see what we can snap up.

set9sallysteamtrade.jpg

set9justinscimethtrade.jpg

set9asokaecontrade.jpg

Set next tech on Rails for lovely movement boosts and extra hammers. Other good choice was physics, but seeing as we are probably losing the race there, no rush for the GS. Also, physics gets us nowhere immediately.

Oh boy, switch every single river town over to a Levee, no exceptions. Even Ox gets stalled for that because our research is off right now.

Use the Golden Age to adopt Free Market for free and cheese the phat trade routes.

Hit end turn.

1705AD (251):

set9weareweak.jpg

Good thing no one really hates us. Except Monty, and who cares as he's horribly backwards.

Call up Justin and do this trade.

set9justincommietrade.jpg

umgun finished a rifle so dial up a 1 turn drydock before pumping more troops.

Red Dot finishes a rifle and is missing a ton of core buildings, sigh... It also doesn't doesn't have our state religion, so the rifle that came out is missing 2XP lol. Dial a forge on account of it doesn't matter much and the rest of the "doesn't much matter" will come faster. Red Dot's stock has fallen since it first landed Tao :P.

GP next turn...

Notice that Monty switched worst enemies to Sally lol, let's see why.

set9montyanger.jpg

Heheh, -4 dip for trading with his worst enemy, which was us. I guess all those one sided trades did good!

1710AD (252):

Spot minor Monty troops moving up against red dot. Spend 600ish gold upgrading 4 troops there to beat down on Monty.

set9montystackbuildup.jpg

We get the odds favourite GS. He goes and makes an acad in Bul. Snooze event not worthy of a screenshot.

umgun gets back on rifles now that the drydock option is done.

Burgun's done building something, oh a bank. Was going to build more buildings but notice Medic Pimpi Siegfried is still solo guarding this place, so dial a rifle, lol.

1715AD (253):

Nothing to trade so far, snooze. Gonna turn on research and burn some cash now that we upgraded a few troops at Red Dot.

1720AD (254):

Monty hates us again, snooze. When is he going to attack??

Ulundi's rifle is done as it lurches onto an 11 turn IW.

1725AD (254):

Monty bringing more troops, snooze. He is still not attacking, not like Monty at all.

1730AD (255):

WAR HORNS!

Monty declares war! On Asoka?

Aww man, I wanted to clean up there, WTH. Ok hopefully Asoka asks for help soon, because I am itching to crash Monty.

So stupid Monty, who built up his troops on our border, now moves his stacks away...

set9montystacksleaving.jpg

umgun's rifle finishes and we dial a painless 6 turn HE.

Moving all of umguns Cats and some assorted trash troops to red to upgrade later.

1735AD (257):

Score!

set9waronmonty.jpg

And India gets a great general as Monty's troops get eaten.

So activate a stack and get it moving towards Monty.

Burgun rifle->rifle

1740AD (258):

A bunch more rifles finish as Monty retreats 2 knights to north of Red Dot in order to defend his town of Xwtf.

1745AD (259):

Bul gets free stuff.

set9bultruffles.jpg

Sally also spreads Bud to Bul, thanks Sally!

Attacking Monty soonish at two spots, north of Avar, and North of Red Dot. Cash for upgrades incoming I guess.

Kwa's rifle finished, gonna dial a 2 turn Ironclad because Liq gave away our Caravels, lol.

Marginal's market is done, and it joins the rifle train.

1750AD (260):

Monty brings reinforcements to the Red Dot fight, gonna have to upgrade some troops but we have bags of cash so whatever.

At Monty's town of Tzwtf (north of Avar) we have a few more cannons to resize his defenses soon.

Nobamba Rifle->Rifle, zzz...

Notice Sally went Red Fist. Sally's worst enemy is Lincoln, but he's not too fond of Monty or Gilga either. An overseas war for him would be interesting.

1755AD (261):

Justin moves to friendly.

Red Dot troops get reinforcements as I blow some major cash buying out 5 new cannon upgrades and a few rifles.

We needed railroad yesterday, sigh. Troop upgrades expensive. Gonna work on that for the trades.

various build finish and I dial rifles. Oh and one cannon at Kwa.

1760AD (262):

Monty suicides a Cuir into our rifles at Xwtf.

Well, let's get going at Tz WTH town seeing as Monty has nothing there :P.

Lead cannon has 35% odds after promoting CR1... it withdraws. yay WTH?
Next two cannons have much improved odds and clean up the idiots in the town.

9XP rifle takes out the cuir standing outside the city for free XP.
Cecil slurps up 99.9% odds on a pikeman.
Lars goes flawless on a longbow, snooze.
Maceman 31 of Avar beats down a longbow, maybe he'll earn a name someday.
Last thing in town is a cuir, take it out flawless with a rifle.

set9tztowncapture.jpg

Go find Siegfreid chilling in Burgun and dispatch him to the stack, as we need a medic heh.

Going to be able to attack Xwtf town next turn.

HE done in Umgun get it on a rifle train.

Red Dot's forge is done and nothing build fast, erk. Order up a bank as this place makes some commerce.

Aryan's Ox is done for basically rails in 2. Aryan doesn't have a forge, WTH :smoke: dial one.

Burgun Rifle->Cannon. Someone needs to make cannons for out here.

Marginal finishes a rifle and dials another.

TZ kept a Granary and courts intact, dial up a haxrax.

1765AD (263):

All troops pile into Tztown as Asoka nails another GG. Prolly one from facism.

We are good to go at Xwtf town.

First cannon has 74% odds and... dies to LB, sigh...
Ok good thing we have a lot of cannons here.
Next one only has 62% odds, but withdraws, yay.
Next cannon 76% odds for the withdrawl.
up against cuirs now and cannons get 95% odds, yay.
98% but took a lot of damage, blah.
last cannon has no XP at all, wow. Still beats down on the badguys and everyone is redlined.
CR1 mace in to clean up the top longbow, whee.
We have a ton of HAs and they suck so sending them in. Beats a beatdown pike.
One more pike left, next HA takes it down.
Longbows now, WTH am i doing XPing HA's? no idea... next HA goes flawless, heh.
3XP rifle to beat down a mace.
5XP rifle to beatdown a longbow flawless.
3 cuirs that are redlined left in the city so Medic Pimpi Roy goes in for free XP.
A rifle beats down a cuir flawless, snooze.
Last cuir also goes down flawless.

set9xtowncapture.jpg

The two rifles with move remaining pile into the city as Monty falls to 1.1 power.

Xwtf city didn't have a granary survive, so do that first.

Various military builds finish and we add more cannons.

Rails next turn!

1770AD (264):

Monty attacks Xwtf town with 5 cuirs and they all lose and die.

set9railroad.jpg

umgun gets an earthquake on it's iron mine so I pay like 30 gold to save the mine, lol.

set9umgunminecollapse.jpg

Slim pickings for rails as everyone basically had it already. Do this with Justin.

set9justinphysicstrade.jpg

Next stop is arties and will bank some cash for it. Liq will probably finish it out :P

3 turns to heal troops in both cities.

1775AD (265):

Justin techs arties, boo. Slim pickings for whoring physics out, we just do this trade with Sally.

set9sallycorptrade.jpg

We nail some more trade routes yay.

IW is done, 1 turn siege from Ulundi is LMAO.

1780AD (266):

We get the peace event from Monty. Ignore time.

Big news! Bul's Levee is done as it now has 24 hammers, lol.

Various military finishes and Aryan gets on an Observatory for the LMAO.

1785AD (267):

Stacks are healed so get going.

Notice Bul never got the basic science infra kit, so start a library.

1790AD (268):

A Monty Treb rolls past my line of sight.

Notice that Link is trading Demo now that he is done SoL.

set9linkdemotrade.jpg

+4 "nice trade fool" as well :P.

So roll troops up to Caxwtf town to the west of Aryan. It has 4 guys defending it, lol. Free XP soonish.

Wow, too much overflow in Ulundi this turn. 236 hammers into a 100 hammer cannon. Divert all production to a 1 turn spy hut ftw.

A bunch of towns finishing builds actually get on spy huts on account of not needing more troops to wipe monty out.

1795AD (269):

Asoka makes peace with Monty. He didn't do jack, maybe he took one town as I see he is at 7 towns now... More for us!

Stack bombs Calwtf down to some arbitrary amount that doesn't matter.

1800AD (270):

Sally shows up demanding we cancel deals with America. I tell him to sod off as we are getting serious love from overseas trade routes. Also we are like +7 from religion alone with him, whatever.

Bandits attack Umgun's rice, so pay the cash to get it back.

Calxwtf town at zero fortifications and we still have like half our cannons, yay.

Notice that Aryan beat down that plains farm tile so we can technically get troops in there faster. Not that it matters one whit now. LOL, Calxtown is 19% Zulu already :D.

82% odds for first CR2 cannon, retreats, heh.
Next cannon is 87%. Of course it dies to a cuir!
Next one at same odds withdraws.
Two more cannons later and everything is beat down.

Haha, Medic Pimpi Siegfreid has 77% odds, not gonna try it though.

Cecil still needs XP so takes out lead longbow flawless.
Lars takes a hit taking down another LB.
Maceman 31 wins his fight flawless, so give him a name. Gunther is good.
So unamed crossbow can absorb some XP and takes down a cuir.
Axe is up and unamed LB goes flawless for 10XP out of 10.
Bored rifle to takedown a beat LB.
Next up is an axe to get pwned by another rifle.
Siegfried has 98% odds so XP on a Pike.
Last is a Cuir, and one more unit to benefit from XP, a rifle to take it to 10XP.

set9calixtown.jpg

At Teo on the east coast, we start shelling.

Caltown dials a granary. Various builds finish and we get going on a few more troops, but large amounts of infra too.

1802AD (271):

set9artillery.jpg

heheheheh....

Dialing Bio but shutting off tech for a moment to get some cash.

Slum this deal with Sally for Combustion.

set9sallycombustiontrade.jpg

So first cannon charging into Teo has bad odds, like 30% against a G2 musket. It dies but does a good job beating down the badguys.
Next cannon at 60% odds also stinks it up.
Whatever, Uber 9XP cannon attacks Teo, omg it lost too, WTH?
Ok finally we have like 99% odds and withdraw.
Last cannon looking to get to 2XP also withdraws, lol. Oh and it won flawless.

CR2 Mace named "Axeman 11" goes for a name. Wow, wins flawless. Lloyd it is.
Trying to figure out what units need XP, oh some rifles. Rifle 52 from Umgun goes flawless, heh.
'nother umgun rifle goes flawless, snooze.
Next defender is a treb, lmao. It get's beat down by a rifle.
Ok well HA 1 from Ulundi has 14XP, so slum some more off a Jag.
Medic Pimpi Roy XPs on a LB.
Send in one more rifle.

set9teo.jpg

Snooze. Workers moving up to help red dot.

Bul is pissed, dialing a cheap forge to help that out. We finally have some WW showing up in cities. Actually just move a rifle from Burgun over, problem solved for now, heh.

Teo dials a Haxrax and we won the hanging gardens in that place.

1804AD (272):

Monty crashes some troops into Teo and we almost go flawless defending that place lol.

BUG says Monty will capitulate. Hell no!

Ulundi takes a break from the troop spam to dial out some happy buildings.

Haha, wow, Sally coming for Monty.

set9sallysod.jpg

That is one farging huge stack... Glad it's not for us :P.

1806AD (273):

We lose another 16 gold outside Avar that we need to spend to keep our food snooze.

Sally's stack uses our rails to get up to Red Dot. Actually, abandoning X town because Monty has troops poised to retake it. Make Sally crash into Monty and hurt each other's stacks.

1808AD (274):

Monty retakes Xtown, but apparently Sally's turn was first. Check this out.

set9sallyvsmonty.jpg

Can't wait until next turn! Can probably turn on research soon, because major troop upgrades are done.

1810AD (275):

Sally get's a golden age from the war starting, WTH he started the war?

Anyways, his stack butcher's Monty's troops and is minorly injured. We get going towards Monty's cap seeing as we're in a race now.

A ton of banks finish and we start the Wall in Bul.

1612AD (276):

Sally splits his troops and completely annihilates Monty's loose forces. We should have enough siege to resize Monty's cap and take it next turn.

Justin goes into Red Fist mode.

1814AD (277):

Random stuff up for trade.

set9gilgamilsci.jpg

So Tex is levelled down to 2%, have a few extra siege lying around, but want to take out Monty and sue peace this turn if possible, let Sally clean up the mess of tundra cities.

Lead arty at Tex has 97% odds and wins.
Next up is a CR2 cannon, wins.
Last is a poor CR1 cannon that wins against a cuir, WTH?

Gunther 99% odds flawless, snooze.
Lars Flawless for bigman status next turn.
Ditto Cecil.
Rifle gets some siege softened XP off of a Jag.
Siegfried goes flawless against a musket for XP.
Last up is a cuir, rifle goes flawless and we win a GG in umgun.

We have a metric ton of Artillery at Monty's cap, should be easy.
Down to 2% defenses with 6 arty, will attack with the last 3.

Cr2 arty withdraws, snooze.
Only 2 CR1 arties left, but they get out np, one went flawless, heh.

Oh no, Monty has more troops in town then I have outside it... And Sally has 21 camel archers in his stack 2 tiles away. What are the chances that he rushes?
So Lloyd goes in... 93% odds and LOSES. boo... WTH.
Ok, C3 rifle next and kills a cuir.
CG3 rifle, you are not reading that wrong. Flawless against a longbow, heh.
2 more sloppy wins by rifles.
HA's go 2 out of 3, boo. We lose another unit.
Medic Pimpi Roy has nothing to attack, so we wait and pray.

Embed the GG we got out of that into Umgun.

Get cracking on more rifles on account we lost a few units there.

1816AD (278):

Sally does not attack, so Monty cap should be ours NP. Oh wow... Monty moved more troops into his cap and now we don't have enough to take it :(. Not gonna bother attacking and making Sally's job easier.

Gonna move troops to take back X town as we're going to sue for peace after that.

1818AD (279):

Sally finishes Broadway as he take's Monty's Cap.

Take back Xtown with scraps and lose an arty as I didn't bother to shell.

Call up Monty and get his capitulation.

set9montysurrendur.jpg

Close borders with Sally to trap his mega stack up north in the wastes.

Wheel and deal with Monty man.

Dialing up infra for now. It's all on Liq now to steer us to some sort of non-slog win :P.

Preturn:1820 AD
Some wild turns by silver there for sure, too funny about losing the race for Monty's crap capital. Shades of boff3 with the splitting of the armies.

Looks like clean up time, possible Asoka fun if all goes wrong. I always seem to think "oh this is just some whack end turns coming up, not many screen shots... right.

So, onto let's avoid modern warfare!

This is how diplomacy stands..

SnL-011820ADrelations.jpg

Trades are dead on account everyone has been gearing up for war over here and about to start some fireworks over there.

Electricity->Radio->Mass Media opens up the UN and if ever there was a time an unplanned dip win would work, all those green/yellow faces fit the bill.

So tweak some things, Fire a few artists and slot in electricity, which sally already has, in 6ish turns. The days of binary research are over soon looks like, as the empire is largely mature. Gonna keep it at 0% for now since a few observatories about about to finish.

Hire a few more specs at red dot to speed up next gp to 13 turns.. gonna burn it for a golden age. The economy is beastly for non financial.

Workers scurry to finish some neglected tiles around Monty's former borders.

[1]1822 AD
Lots of stuff builds infra wise, slot in infra. Highlights include a 1 turn bank for Ulundi.

Bio really didn't have much effect on us since we didn't rely on farms for most towns, but Nominal dot takes off hehe.. dealing with a +7 food surplus now.

I set the rest of the workers on auto improve seeing as it's just random rails left etc.

Ug, seems sally has radio already..

[2]1824 AD
Can go 100% on Electricity, 4 turns

[3]1826 AD
Gilg comes demanding we cancel deals with America again.. sigh, he drops from pleased down to annoyed all of a sudden seeing as we picked up a -4 dip hit form trading with his worst enemy hehe. Oh well.

I dial up link to beg his 100 gold. Sally golden age ends, would explain his tech rate.

[4]1828 AD
Gilg back to cautious... trading with worst is decaying.

[5]1830 AD
Ulundi is done building infra so onto wealth.
Justinian Finishes the Apollo project finally hehe

[6]1832 AD

SnL-011832ADElectricity.jpg

Sally already built Broadway so onto radio in 5, can sustain 90% science at only -77 gpt. Beastly!

Borders pop just in time to greet sally's new town coming out of revolt.

SnL-011832ADrelations.jpg

By the end of my turn set, the only tiles that town had were the silver and spices, rest was shaka yellow. Massed sally troops are in there, 21 camels + tons of rifles and cannon.

[7]1834 AD
Marginal dot keeps growing! Mighty town of food neutral tiles, go!

[8]1836 AD
Open borders with Monty and trade some rice for his marble... whatever.

[9]1838 AD
See Asoka has some cash, beg that off him no problem.

Sally will trade hit singles and finished the cristo. I pass on the hit singles.

[10]1840 AD
Asoka wants us to convert to free religion and uh... no.

Justinian has some gold but is immune to begging looks like. He is still red fisty.

[11]1842 AD

SnL-011842ADradio.jpg

Could put Ulundi on a 5 turn Eiffel but that would delay the 4ish turn mass media so I deny that idea. GP in 2 and sally still doesn't have mass media looks like.

Looking around, I do put Avar on an 11ish turn Eiffel though since it's double speed. Sally has a serious head start on it tho so well, nice cash for a miss.

Mass media in 4ish.

[12]1844 AD
Justinian finally starts his war vs gilg the same turn he revolts to environmentalism WTH indeed.

Mass media in 2 non golden turns though the golden age next turn isn't gonna speed it up hehe.

[13]1846 AD
Wall street comes in for bul (yay!) slot in an observatory. A shame we are at 100% beakers.

Red dot pops a minority great engineer which is tempting but golden age would do us the most good.

Eiffel is due in 7, if it's not taken you know.

[14]1848 AD

SnL-011848ADmassmedia.jpg

Nobamba tries for Hollywood in 12ish

Ulundi off of wealth and on a 5 turn UN. Ow that's worth about 200 gold a turn hehe. knock science down to 80, assembly line is next I guess. 4 golden turns

Justin takes a town from gilg and they both get a great general. Our spy points suck so I cannot see many power graphs.. no real dive in power for gilg at least.

Now teching for mass destruction, assembly line in whatever.

[15]1850 AD
Passed Gilg in score. whee?

[16]1852 AD

Monty's towns are popping their 3rd and maybe 4th rings of culture I think, sealing up Sally but good finally.

[17]1854 AD
Sally comes around asking for open borders... uh no thanks, hope you enjoy the new town!

[18]1856 AD

SnL-011856ADAssemblyLine.jpg

Factories so good, had to place in its icon.

Slot in Medicine for 4 turns to make up the health the factories are gonna cost us.

The effing war between justin and gilg is over... not good hehe.

[19]1858 AD
UN comes in and I miss the useless splash screen, what a loss!

Onto a 1 turn factory for Ulundi.

After the queues where I hammer the build factory option, we see this Pop up. Was more hoping for Gilg, not sally...

SnL-011858ADUNspam1.jpg

needless to say, I vote Shaka.

Sally builds the Effiel, wasn't expecting to get itbut it was 1 turn away looks like. Oh well, we got a nice 1210 in gold looks like. Space ship makes alot more sense in standard speed, not enough time to relly hammer the crap out of people and it's not nearly as many next turn's.

[20]1860 AD
A split decision, but only needed 427

SnL-011860ADUNspam1b.jpg

Gilg is almost as many votes as sally tho so we have a shot.

hmmm well we shall see, might have to go nukes.

[21]1862 AD

SnL-011862ADmediocre.jpg

meh

Coal plant comes online at ulundi for a whopping

SnL-011862ADulundi.jpg

210 hammers base looks like... wow. Its gonna be perma over flow though so need to build wealth to leak it I guess hehe. one of the drawbacks to standard speed, our hammer towns are too leet for it.

Losing two food a turn but hospitals are next turn... who wants to wager how many turns a hospital is gonna take there?

Oh my bad, forgot to swap to emancipation, and towns finally getting angry, ok suck up the one turn anarchy not to mention emance has got to be link's favorite civic... ug triple :smoke:

[22]1864 AD

SnL-011864ADMedicine.jpg

Rememeber kids, research factories first so you can build the hospitals to cure the sickness they cause faster!

Gilg comes to demand we cancel deals with Justin, go take a hike hehe.

I start slotting hospitals wherever I can for red cross.
[23]1866 AD
We get an interesting event..

SnL-011866ADdynasty.jpg

I take the free Great General just in case.

[24]1868 AD
Next turn vote is put forth I think. Gilg might be up for vote since war has been over a while now and he's prolly grown back some.

Lets hope!

[25]1870 AD
Sweating as I go though build queue...
SnL-011870ADunspam2a.jpg

Score!

If this vote doesn;t do it, gonna need to stack the deck getting the panseys in line hehe.

Fingers crossed! It's gonna be super close either way.

[26]1872 AD
ARGGGGG

SnL-011872ADunspam2b.jpg

America abstained this time and only needed 37 more votes hehe. Damn you link! Thought gilg being up alone would get the vote but should have gifted them some tech despite all the random worst enemy crap I was fearing.

So looking at the comparative votes between first vote and second
SnL 233-242 = +9
gilg 198-198 = 0
Sally 199-190 = -9 Monty cap ->starving to size 3.
Justin 154-167= +13
Link 149-149 = 0
Asoka 100-102 = +2
monty 36-38 = +2

SO looks like gilg is good to go for UN vote, that's very good.
I'd say farm over all the workshops in monty's area as a start as well as capital seeing as it doesn;t need more hammers hehe. Let worst enemy trades fade and gift some tech before the primary vote comes up for the +4 fair trade to india, link and justin.

India is pleased to friendly with everyone who counts so attacking him would need study on the dip effects.

No more tech trades, we can research whatever tech we need, no point speeding them up.

Well leaving it here as the super fallback plan *might* need us to attack India and nuke the rest like a real shaka. Keep in mind that link loves emance which we are in belatedly, so its major dip and just at +1. Also could gift techs just before the next election so not all is lost diplomacy wise.

Good news though is that we are quickly picking up spy points on people and catching a ton of sally spies. So getting huts out still is a good idea.

Wow, that really stressed me out haha.

Industrialism in 2, 100% won't make it 1 turn, plastics next as we need to build hover dam.

Capital has been spitting out a few Arty but other wise military is where you left it. It needs red cross when hospitals build in case this goes to nukes. The Economy is BEASTLY, damned HaxRax monty's northern most town of pop 18 is under 5 gold maint, can maybe put forbidden palace in a monty town to save 3 more gpt. If we cannot secure dip win in 2 more votes, we need to start wrecking the place. Infra is almost done, just spit military out I guess, total unit upkeep is like 38 currently.

Cheers!
-Liq

Looks good Liq. The worst enemy stuff with Gilga is probably because of the Monty trade (probably should not have taken capitulation, :smoke:) because more than a few folks were not happy with Monty.

If you can steer it to a diplo win, go ahead and do so; S.ilver would probably just muck it up by trading with worst enemies again :crazyeye:. That and still not feeling the greatest; only got to cropping my spammed screens last night . (Oh and there's no save attached :P)

very odd as I know I was hunting that 1872 save too.

Meh I'll take it for a spin assuming we need to slam india. Btw, taking Monty as a vassal helped us, I no longer see any -dip from it and he auto votes for us hehe.

Cheers!

Ok, back at it... build military while we wait on next pair of votes.

Going to finish up last infra then start on military, lest this goes wrong.

[1]1874 AD
2 towns grow this turn and nobomba is about to grow to size 20 next... fun with food neutral tiles.

[2]1876 AD
Whoo boy, tanks!

SnL-011876ADIndustrialism.jpg

Let's hope we don't need them!

Plastics next in uh... can get it to 5 but 6 turns works as I do not want to break the bank.

2x aluminum, one at xwtf, the crap town that could, and marginal dot, the town that one day became great!

[3]1878 AD
3 of the towns from Monty grow this turn and again next!

Sally comes demanding we drop deals with America sigh civics + religion on sally though means we are still a high +11

[4]1880 AD
gilg comes wanting to trade our medicine and 650 gold for his fascism... take a hike man.

Catching a lot of spies operating around the Pony Rides.

Oh red cross is up for building so Ulundi gets on it in... 2 turns?

[5]1882 AD
Big turn!

SnL-011882ADNobomba.jpg

The second coming of Damascus nails the one true wonder needed to make it the entertainment capital of the world!

Not like we need the happy or anything.

First vote comes up.

SnL-011882ADUNspam1c.jpg

Did not bother to gift tech yet as America is only +1 on civics, and it's link's vote we need..

[6]1884 AD

SnL-011884ADUNspam2c.jpg

Missed it by 19 votes this time, getting closer!

Next vote will be do or die time as the save is handed over to the silver.

Capital takes a hit to its hammers by popping gold..

SnL-011884ADgoldcap.jpg

Right next to the silver...

Well, not like this town isn't in perma hammer overflow mode.

[7]1886 AD
An event gives our workers something to do as a road is washed out :mischief:

Red Cross finishes in capital so back to arty!

[8]1888 AD
Plastics comes in and lacking the screen... oh my!

Well, 9 turns on the Dam

Ecology is now open so get on that in 5 ish on account need those recycle plants.

[9]1890 AD
Catch a pair of spies. A lot of spies all over the place, they are jealous of Nobomba.

[10]1892 AD
Vote soon and +2 on civics so I gift radio to link for +4 dip... sally's trading with worst enemy re-ups but no worries hehe.

[11]1894 AD
Vote comes up vs Gilg again. 669 of 1080 for victory ...

[12]1896 AD
Asoka asks for radio? WTH, get out of my face, take it, want to see the vote.

SnL-011896ADWinningvote.jpg

Wooo. You go Shaka!

SnL-011896ADwinsplash.jpg

A very unlikely Hero of World Peace if I say so myself.

SnL-011896ADscore.jpg

Another meaningless score any self respecting HOF'er would ridicule!

Cheers!
-Liq

Had to reload the game to save before vote, Asoka still begged radio :)

you know counting it up, we didn't even need Link's vote.

SnL-011896ADWinningvote.jpg

Needed 668 votes had 802 link added 134...

802-134 = 668

Oh well, a happy Link is a happy Liq.

Cheers!
