So apparently AI know when we're about to win...

Oh it was horrible, I was playing India, and was playing on kinda a continent map (actually it's one I created myself, but anyways, yeah, continents). So I was on the same continent as Arabia, Germany, America, Babylon and Rome.

Nearing the end of the game, I was like the second super power after Arabia, but he had like a bajillion units, so I was like 'eh... w/e, Science Victory it is then'.

So I went for science. Despite having an army that was about 15 times larger than mine (seriously), he didn't attack me... all the time I researched and built spaceship parts and stuff.

He was actually very, very, very friendly, for some reason...

And so yeah, I just went on my way, happily building the spaceship stuff... until the final component is complete. Half-way through transferring it to my capital, every single country on the continent declared war on me...

The component was destroyed, my cities taken one by one, and yeah... luckily, I had one single city on an island quite far away, so I still managed to build the final component again, and won. XD

But yeah, so apparently AI do kinda know when you're 3 turns from winning, and would throw everything at you to stop it. XD

That's a nice tale! I've been playing 63 hours, I'm new to the series, so I restarted several times. I'm going to continue this one as Mongolia though. The point I'm trying to make is that I've never one a game yet.

What victory type is the easiest?

Well, depends, besides Time, mostly Science is easiest, followed by Domination/Diplomatic and then Cultural...

But it highly varies depending on your settings.

I find that in tiny islands, domination is actually very easy... once you get to the Modern Age. Get Carriers --> Nukes, and just nuke and then take over the capitals of all of your opponents... the fact that there are islands means that reinforcements for them take forever to come.

They do seem to know that you're about to win, but they don't actually think about how long it'll take them to stop you.

I had a similar situation on a continents map, also with myself and Arabia as the two major superpowers, but they had control of one continent and I had full control of the other. He massively outgunned me but I was close to a Science victory.

Three turns from completion of my final component, he declared war on me. The first units landed on my continent just as the component was completed, but it was completed in the inland capital so he had no chance to get there.

Yup, Once was going for a Diplo victory, allied all CS`s and then boom boom POW! 7 AI empires declare war on me, Nappy was closest to me, he had the 2nd biggest army, Russia had the most, while i had like 15 units and 2 GGs and prolly alst place. Owned 1/4 of the continent i was on while Nappy had 2/3, slowly i conquered Nappy without much trouble, the rest of the AI was on the other continent. I was even last in tech! And then... stupid Russia built the UN...
And i won.

I think it`s great that the AI does whatever is in his power to win, but seriously sometimes it just gets too funny and absurd.

The component was destroyed, my cities taken one by one, and yeah... luckily, I had one single city on an island quite far away, so I still managed to build the final component again, and won. XD

Hmm, so you can loose your capital where you had the original parts yet you can continue adding parts in your new capital? :D

That's not very realistic, I mean you would think that the hole spaceship needs to be built in one place...and you actually see it being built in one place.

Yeah... but I guess it's just that if you are forced to build them all in one place wouldn't be too fair, since y'know, going for a Scientific Victory means that there's a lot less chance that you're extremely militaristic, and so taking it back would prolly take the same amount of effort as a domination victory anyways...
