I am sooo incredibly excited to finally have Conquests on my Mac!

I pulle it out of the box last night and am finally taking a little break from playing to check the forums.

Thank you Brad and Aspy!

A quick question: am I supposed to be able to open a Civ Conquests saved game from PC into the new Mac Conquests? I converted to Mac a few months after I got Conqeusts on my old PC a few years ago. Anyway, I saved my old save game files just in case Conquests ever got ported... I tried opening a game, and I got an error (something about a particular file (maybe a graphic?) not being where it's supposed to).

it was said, that crossplattform would not work....
Cross platform network play will not work becasue of DirectPlay.

But there's no reasn to suppose that the games will not be file compatible with the PC version. If they aren't I'll put out a contract on Brad :joke: We absolutely need file compatibility to run SG/C/GOTM.

You absolutely should be able to use PC games on the Mac and vice-versa. I tested this with as many as I could get my hands on.

If your saved game relies on a mod or scenario for the PC, you could get a missing file message on the Mac, so you'll need to make sure those extras are installed and active on the Mac for it to load successfully.

However - I believe most of the saved games I tested came from version 1.22 on the PC. If your saved games were created in an earlier version of Conquests, it's conceivable that there may be some bugs in the Mac version when loading them. If you have a saved game that does not load properly on the Mac, e-mail it to brad@aspyr.com and I'll take a look.

Brad, thanks for your prompt response. I just sent you an email with two save game examples. Here's a copy of what I sent you (just in case others want to track this):

Thanks for your response on Civfanatics about my inquiry as to loading old Conquests saves from PC into my new Mac version. I attached two old saves to this email as examples. I am running a single 1.8 G5 with 1.5gb RAM ATI Radeon 256vram, and 160gb harddrive. I have the latest OS 10.4.4

I tried opening the files from their current locations, then I tried moving them into the new saves folder created by Complete. These two games are from the PC Conquests, but I also tried loading vanilla saves from PC, play the world saves from PC, AND a vanilla save from my other Mac civ game. None of them will open. They always get to 30%, then give error messages. For some, after clicking OK, it goes back to the Main menu; but for most, after the error message, the game closes. A couple of times, the game crashed after the error messages and sent a report to Apple. I can email you printscreens of the error messages if you want.

By the way, the game is running a new game just fine (woot!), it's just fun to load old games too, and to get those old ones in the hall of fame to track my progress :)

While I've got your attention, has anyone else reported mouse scroll wheels not working properly in Complete? It's not a big deal, but when I scroll up using the mouse wheel in a menu after having scrolled down, the menu keeps going down. It's sporadic.

You can copy/paste the text out of those crash reports.

If you don't do it at the time you can bring them up again by opening the Console in /Applications/Utilities. Click Logs in the toolbar and select ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/<the application name>

All crash reports for that app are then listed in the text window, with time stamps at the top of each one, and you can copy/paste part or all of it to send to Aspyr.

Be sure to d/l the latest drivers for your mouse.

Btw, I just loaded a PC Conquest save file from my PC laptop - loads and runs fine. Do you have your PC version patched to 1.22f?
