So is there any reason to build Tacjets on Apollo?

I don't suppose the node bonuses stack?

Oh wait, nodes are the healing improvement... does that mean I'd need the enemy to be next to a node, or that I'd need one next to the city they are based in?

Next to the city where the aircraft are based.

I'm actually not sure whether they stack, something I still have to check. But getting +20hp on all 3 aircraft each turn, you don't often need more than one.

I've put multiple Nodes around a cityscape just for the look of the thing - to make the landscape look "more Supremacy." They don't stack.

I think they stack with other bonuses though. The ones that come to my mind are the Drone Sphere Wonder (+10) and the +10 from that one harmony tech.. so that's +40 if you're really in the rare situation where you have both of these effects active. ^^

Tissue Engineering gives +10 per turn when you're actively healing up the unit. Drone Sphere, too. You get another +10 as a quest option for Organ Printer. These all require "active healing" Nodes and Apostles and Aegis provide "passive healing" and they stack. So a CARVR next to an Apostle standing on a Node will regen 30 HP per turn whatever it does. In Friendly territory on active healing, it will regen 50 per turn. With Organ Printer and the Apostle and Tissue Engineering and the Node in Friendly Territory using Active Healing, 70 HP per turn.

Really hard to kill.

I think the unit has to be inactive for those bonuses to apply though, right?

I believe there's also +5 from the Alien Preserve quest.

So really I should build a node next to a city, and have an Apostle standing nearby, to get the most out of my aircraft...

Yes. The repair ability of Apostles is remarkably powerful.

I personally find that aircraft are half a waste on single player anyway due to AI. I personally use them to airstrike artiller mostly. Are all you guys more MP prone though?

tj's are good for leveraging the initial boost the ai gets on their carpets of rovers; its an simple path to grab them on the way to more usefull techs, so, its not a "wasted" research. On that, yes, their range is limited but for finishing off enemies, specific ranged ones, they excel.

as they level, the thing only gets better...

Offensively, i do miss an airbase-like improvement, though. Move a worker along with the invading force for a node, base and WAM, royal canadian engineers, "Beyond Chiron"

TacJets are good for one thing. Being cheaper than needle jets which they will upgrade too.
I hadn't thought of nodes for aircraft healing. I often forget in civ 5 as well to have a medic for them since I think if them differently I forget they are still at the city for adjacency.
Air combat is better in BE than 5, it terms of being competitive. I swear there is a bug in civ5 where AI planes never heal. I've watched them for several turns and they never did a mission and still didn't recover HP. I poster in the bug forum but it was so late in the games lifespan I doubt anyone was looking for new bug reports.
