I recently upgraded my RAM from one gig and I now have three. So I downloaded the Demo to Civ V. The only reason I didn't buy it right away was certainty that, pre-upgrade, I probably would have problems running it.

My Video card is a nVidia GeForce 8500 GT (I believe with 512MB of RAM in it, if I remember correctly)
a Duocore processor (1.9 IIRC)
So My processor meets the requirements, and I have probably a decent enough video card. Now with more RAM I'm hoping Civ V will run smoothly enough.

The demo seems to be running fine and very smoothly, but I am wondering if the Demo is a good test of how the game will run.

Just want some advice and input on it.

If it runs smootly at your graphics settings, it will stay that way lategame. You might encounter a slow/ugly texture pop-in with larger maps, though. A better graphics card would help with that, and enable you to use a higher graphics quality.
The turntimes however will get slower, but that happens even on high end machines, only to a lesser degree.
