So there is no in game option for having the Civs start in their historic locations?

All I want is when I play a world map to have the Chinese start in what would be china, the Americans to start on the east coast of north america and so on. Without download special extras there isn't a game option to let you do this?

If there isn't why did it get left out, that is so lame.

Nope. The only way would be to download a civ placement tool. Kind of silly.

I never saw it but did they give any reason like in a FAQ or something to why they left it out.

I would have really liked that option, it would have been a whole lot better then the build your castle thing.

You CAN get real world locations on the Earth map, but you have to do a little work to do it, it is NOT part of the way the game comes, unfortunately.

Go to Civilization Fanatics' Forums>Civilization III> Civ 3-Creation & Customization > Tutorials, Reference & Guide. There, you will see Marla Singers thread entitled "How to play on Earth Map with all correct locations in 30sec". Read it , download the attached file and run it, and your there. You should also be able to customise the game as you would normally, IIRC.

Good luck. Sorry I didn't answer your PM unitl late last night, I didn't see it unitl then ... I was busy conquering the French all weekend, rather then being on-line at the forum. Joan just WOULDN"T trade luxuries with me, for a reasonable cost, not even for a questionable reasonable cost ... now I have them for free. Sorry, Ms. d'Arc ... bad business decision.

This didn't work for me. No big deal I have other games I can play.

I think that program only works on her map, it won't work on the earth maps that came with the game. But with a little hacking I could use that program to work on other maps....
