Civ is really fun. I’ll probably do another game of it while I’m off for Thanksgiving. That’s how much I suggest you play it - I don’t play much games, but Civ has shown itself to be one that I enjoy.

OP appeared out of the blue to make an exceedingly frivolous first post, after an apparent inactivity of 22 years; also they received a bunch of longevity-related trophies at 5:56 PM yesterday, although for all I know CivFanatics only awards those upon login. Regardless, how plausible is it that someone would remember their credentials for a forum they'd ignored for over 2 decades? Methinks something screwy is going on here

Let's see, about the screwyness:
I remember my credentials because the email I used to sign up to CivFanatics is the second I ever had (and I still have access to it!). As for the frivolity of the post; it was meant as a joke, I thought to myself: what would be the most ridiculous thing someone who's had an account this old could say? I've been playing Civ2 since I was a kid (hence joining this forum), and I think I had other posts but they've just been lost to the sands of time (due to being 20+ years old). I originally went by the monicker Julius Bonapart (and I still do on other sites, like youtube), but I don't remember why the account I still have here was a kind of shadow account to that one. I've actually periodically dropped in on CivFanatics, just to lurk, for the 20+ years since I've known about the site. I don't regularly play Civ6 anymore, but that's more to not having as much free time being an adult with other work and hobbies to get in the way. Every so often the bug bites though.

So, not that screwy. I just wondered if my account was around and lo and behold it was. Voilá. As for all the trophies , I didn't ask for them, I don't know how they're given, and if you want to take them back, it doesn't make a difference to me.

For the record: I voted yes on giving Civ a shot.
(played Civ 2, 3, 5, 6, Alpha Centauri and Beyond Earth, only missing 1 cause I was too young when it came out and 4 cause I just never got around to it).

Aha! After racking my brain for a while, I remembered the password for the email linked to my og JuliusBonapart account. I guess I made it after the Napoleon account, but I used it more regularly. So, there you go, if you want proof I actually was around the site 20 years ago, check the old posts under this name. The spelling alone should let you see it's a twelve year old writing. In 2001.

I like all these games. I don't see why not? However, even though they're different they're all great in strategy imho.

I just don’t like real-time strategy games. If you enjoy them, more power to you.
