I bought an AMD Sempron 3000+ Socket A processor for my computer a year ago, but I haven't been able to run it at factory speeds stably. After a year of research, I've finally managed to narrow the problem down to my motherboard. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a Socket A motherboard anywhere on the internets, for a reasonable price. The cheapest I've found is a crappy PC Chips one for £30, but I can get a brand new, posh branded AM2 one for that (and I have enough money for a new processor too, but that requires more research...
). For reference, I bought my current, crap mobo for £8, so I'm really not keen on shelling out good money for an unbranded, crap motherboard.
The AM2 motherboards say that they are compatible with Sempron processors, but I'm guessing not with my old Socket A Sempron... Is that correct? Can I buy a nice, shiny new mobo with real upgrade potential, and stick my "old" Sempron 3000+ Socket A processor in it and be a very happy bunny indeed?
