Solution for XML problems (German or (EU) version on US Windows)

oh oh, mine is in different situation... much harder than this I should say.

The "decimal-devil" doesnt occur in my case, shown 0 instead of 0.7, how should i do? please reply and HELP~~~ anyway thanks~ ^.^

I had the same torrent of Xml load errors when I tried to run Civ 4 for the first time. So I can and looked in the forums and nothing worked, I found a link to microsoft to download something, but the link was dead. I thought, maybe i should just update the MIcrosoft Xml Parser, so I did and that fixed it completly.

I downloaded: Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0 Service Pack 7 (SP7)

I downloaded the msxml3.msi which is 1.0mb and installed it and Civ boots now with No Errors. Hope this helps someone :D
 
Hi all my problem is very similar as Litany (thread 58),

Essentially all the text in my game is replaced with a string of characters like "TXT_KEY_MAIN_MENU_SINGLE_PLAYER".

My error is:

Failed loading xml file xml\text\civ4game_misc\.xml [.\Fxml.cpp.133]
error parsing XML
Reason: End tag/mark "Text" mismatch Start tag/mark "Italian" line 9358, 4

Although i could run & play game but having string of strange text is very hard to play expecially in Multi player games.

I have try to update that msxml3 file, Regsvr32.exe MSXML3.DLL, uninstall game & reinstall with no luck :cry:

I try to find a new update of my audio driver but i cant get it download anywhere. It is intel - 82801CA/CAM AC'97 and I have the 1.52 patch installed.

Also i have no idea why the message concerning italian there as i m not even using any italian lang...

Please help all great civ play/helper.

Will be greatly appreciated. :(
 
I forgot to mention i didnt have this problem about these strange string of texts with the 1.09 patch(not sure the correct number - first patch) version.

I dont know anything about xml, how can i check about that line in that file? Any idea?
 
hi again guys :) i fixed it!!!!

At first, i tried to log as a different user as some of u suggested above. no luck.

then i try to change my global region to english (US), the error message didnt come out & when i manage to get to the menu, i dont get those strange string of texts for the last 2 options (tutorial/advance options) any longer. & even i can see all those tab with correct text in multiplayer mode!!!!!

I M VERY HAPPY NOW :)

finally solved my problem!!

I have an XML problem as well, jsut got it after downloading a few mods. I tried the 'alternate user name' solution and it works. However, I would really like to fix it on my normal user name so I can resume my current saved game. I tried one of the solutions above, that says to download the microsoft parser program, and then clear the XML cache. Here is my question:

Can someone please tell me what directory this XML cache is in? The poster just said mygames/firaxis/civ4...../xml. I cant seem to find this, can someone help me and fill in the blank? The poster was Civ Alby, there is a link to his post in the first post in this thread. Any help appreciated.
 
I have sold the XML problem this way :
First I started Winamp and while Winamp was playing, I started Civ 4. Then the loader doesnt check the XML ( no XML caching ). Second time I started Civ 4 normaly and it worked alright.:D

Thank you very much, I was also having xml problems
and after about 2 weeks of bitter trialand error i was thinking about reinstalling xp and "forget" my wife has an account too.

I got problems about coding of civgamtext info and reinstalling civ4 did not help

But because civ4 worked 3 weeks ago I had to start looking for other options

when I finally yesterday typed "civ4 xml error" in google; I stumbled upon this site straight away.

did not realize a simple re-register would do the trick.

Ok I also have a problem when I start the game:

Everything starts normal until the computer loads something with xml(after "Init Python"). Then I get this error message:

XML Load Error
Failed loading XML file: xml/text/4gametext_help.xml.[./Fxml cpp1333] Error parsingXML file
File:xml/text/4gametext_help.xml
Reason: changing between this and actually encryption not pissible

followed by this:
Load XML call failed for xml/text/4gametext_help.xml
Current xml file is: xml/GlobalDefinesAlt.xml
( the messasge repeats with every data file in the file “assets/xml”.

I think the computer can not read the xml files. Perhaps i need any program which can read those files.

If I acknowledge all those eight error messages I see in the game instead of single player (for instance) “TXT_KEY_MAIN_MENU_SINGLE_PLAYER”

HAS ANYONE A IDEA ?!

try emptying the civ cache directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\My Games\Civ4\cache
 
I gethis problem when starting the game during the inital load screen

Load XML file Assets//XML\GameInfo/CIV4PlayerOptionInfos.xml FAILED

Ive dled the microsoft parseer sp?, and it still doesnt work. and I dont have the latest patch installed, i havnt played in awhile. I also cant reinstal the game because i cant find the damn key.
 
never mind my last post i dled the 1.61 patch or whatever number it is. Now I have a different problem, i says I faild to initalize python when i load the game, any help? I also have no cache
