Some Combat / War Issues

  • War penalties on cities are pretty weak, a neverending war is not that painful (albeit I'm playing on whatever level they started me for my first game)
  • Ranged units are altogether way too powerful and not vulnerable enough - given a couple of archers and a couple catapults I can wipe out wave after wave after wave of enemies
  • The AI is terrible at figuring out how to a) use and b) fight / defend against ranged units
  • The AI sent ground troops into the sea to face my galley... ... ...
  • It doesn't feel dangerous at all engaging cities. In V I used to have to negotiate the terrain and get everyone in place to not get key troops wiped out before the siege was over - maybe there needs to be stronger bonuses for troops firing out of cities
  • The AI is terrible, no really terrible, it keeps producing builders and missionaries and sending them into my troops!?
  • The AI doesn't pillage and doesn't know how to deal with a pillaging unit
