I just buy my games online (the boxed versions). I doubt a downloadable Civ III version is available, but I'm not sure.

The first thing that came to mind when you said "paypal only" is ebay. Maybe try there.

Good luck.

i wouldn't count on it. my computer does well with civ 3 and with civ 4 it trys to die so...

yeah.

oh well i found a great site that accepts pay pal but i don't know if i should buy civ 3 or civ 4 and i dont want to waste my money on civ 3 and have it not be able to run on my computer

My son added that Civ 4 tryout on my computer and it would not run. I have a puny computer and it could not support the graphics. I had a completely black screen.

Unless your computer is really old, like from prior to 2000, I do not see you having problems with Civ3. The specs for the game are not that high. Go to this website for the specs, http://www.civ3.com/features.cfm. I have run the game on my IMac G3 at 600Megs speed with no problem.

Civ4 is a different cat entirely. The specs are a lot more demanding, and required me to upgrade my main computer a fair amount just to run it slowly. I found that it was not the great a game either, so I quit playing it and am back on Civ3 again. The fact that Civ3 Complete is still selling well in the stores is a think a good comment on the merits of the game.

I ran Civ 3 on an old machine until the first of this year and had no problems.

Win 98 SE
500 MHz Pentium III Celeron
256 MB RAM

Minimum clock speed is 400 MHz.

I don't have Civ 4, but I'm going to hazard a guess here: If you get Civ 3 and can't run it, you won't be able to run Civ 4. If your computer is not exactly cutting-edge state of the art, odds are better that you'll be able to run civ 3 than civ 4.

Anyway, just for fun, I ran a search on Civ 3 Complete on ebay. They've got plenty of them.

I got my copy of Complete from Amazon. I needed it for SGOTM 10 and eBay was too slow and 'iffy'.

And if you're brave, you could get both Civ 3 Complete and Civ 4 from Amazon and not have to pay shipping.

well i have bought civ 3 complete and so fair it is great and i ment to say i dont know if my computer will be able to support civ 4 i type civ 3 by mistake lol:lol:

WTG!!!

So when are you signing up for a succession game?

:lol::lol::lol:

SG stands for Succession Game. There is a forum here for them and several are going at any point in time. They have different levels and different variants, that is restrictions on how you play.

They are a team game and players take turns with the save and play 5 or 10 turns and pass it on.
