Some old issues

ROP is based almost entirely by land size. If your territory is bigger than theirs they will pay more for it. It doesn't matter how convenient or strategic the land is, just how big it is. I often sell ROP to smaller civs for alot of money. But if your rep is screwed, ROP is worthless.

That's the point I was on about: the AI will constantly sign ROP with AIs that sneak attacked it before. Never with me. This isn't good, since the human player has to stick to treaties, while the AI happily ignores and breaks them.

I marched in and razed two of their biggest cities

Thats a problem right there - that will destroy your rep and make it hard for any of the AI to respect any deals with you unless they have no choice whatsoever.

That's my biggest pet peeve - when you raze or break treaties or other negative rep actions, they stay with you forvever! Why should a treaty violation from 1280AD mean jack in 1980AD?

btw, even if I stick to treaties (that is I never make any, so I can't break any!) I get the 'You sneakattacked ***** under the protection of this treaty"..... WTH????

What? I am attacked and take a city, they refuse to talk to me and I move on to the next city...I raze it. So now I'm the bad guy?

Thank you guys for the response, for you who care I finally got my pangea map..and I'm having a good time :)
