Sonic Generations

To be fair, that is a live performance and so not the best quality. People believe all the remixes from the Party will be made on an album at a later date, as is traditional.

As for the Sonic Boom cover... some speculate that it may be the theme song for Generations. Now, as much as I love Crush 40, and while it would fit (as both games involve time travel), I'm not sure if it's the right idea... never mind Sega's developed a taste for softer, rather than rock, songs as of late.

Likewise, it prefers orchestral final bosses to rock final bosses(Black Knight being an exception).

I am eager to see what they do with the 360/PS3 stages... it seems kind of funny to remake HD stages... in HD! Then again, if we compare say, GTA III to GTA SA, we can see a clear difference in quality between games on the same console. It'll be neat to see the levels be re-invented.

It sounds like City Escape may actually have the singer who did Sonic Colors' ending theme, rather than the original vocals. This should be interesting.

Of course, there was also a remake of Super Sonic Racing at the event, so who knows if these songs have any relevance to the Generations title... (which may not even be its actual name!)

I am overall, very hyped about Generations and look forward to it... Novemeber/December is too far away to wait!

I do wonder how long/short it will be... it does seem like it was made on short notice.

Spoilerific! Sonic fans have cracked the codes of the demo I guess and so know what's in it.

Non-spoilerific: Every one of the 18 stages will have 5 missions. So, lots of fun here.

Spoiler Levels :

-Green Hill (Sonic 1, duh)
-Chemical Plant (Sonic 2)
-Sky Sanctuary (Sonic n Knuckles)
-Speed Highway (Sonic Adventure)
-City Escape (SA2)
-Seaside Hill (Sonic Heroes)
-Crisis City (Sonic 06)
-Rooftop Run (Sonic Unleashed)
-Planet Wisp (Sonic Colors)

For those interested in Metal Sonic, Shadow, etc...

Spoiler :
They are all bosses! :goodjob:

Metal Sonic
Shadow
Silver
"Death Egg"
Perfect Chaos
Egg Dragoon
(Final boss left out to keep it a surprise)

This will be sweet!

Casino Night will be downloadable content for HD it seems.

There's no stage from Sonic 3! Why? Did they not find the code for it? I'm still holding for the small chance of a Ice Cap Zone, but the odds are sliming now...

Metal Sonic being a boss is good, though. Perhaps you'll race/fight him in Metal Madness Zone (CD)? I know that there is more than seven bosses, but if Sky Sancturary is in the game, I'm suprised no one pulled data for Knuckles.

Knuckles appears to be available as a mission in several stages as a character you can compete with. It sounds like if you're not in the boss section, you're in the mission section.

There must be one or two bosses missing... that or you fight one of the bosses more than once.

I don't know if the bosses will appear in their stages, but it'd be fairly easy to categorise:

Sonic 1 - ?
Sonic 2 - Death Egg
Sonic and Knuckles - ?
Sonic Adventure - Perfect Chaos
Sonic Adventure 2 - Shadow
Sonic Heroes - Metal Sonic since this was his biggest role ever
Sonic 06 - Silver
Sonic Unleashed - Egg Dragoon
Sonic Colors - ?

Final Boss

Theoretically, Metal Sonic could be in Sonic and Knuckles, or the Death Egg could. This is again, assuming each character appears in a game they're known for... though Egg Dragoon, Silver or Perfect Chaos anywhere else would be weird.

Dunno whether the Final Boss gets its own stage or will share Sonic Colors' stage...

Those are all the bosses that are cracked.

I'm not hoping for any more stages since it seems Sega's mentioned 9 stages officially, and those look to be the 9 stages. Sonic and Knuckles is half the same game as Sonic 3 anyway.

What would be awesome... is if Knuckles was the final boss. As Enerjak. :mischief:

The cutscenes in the game look to be few and far between, at about less than one per world, if the code is correct.

Theoretically, Metal Sonic could be in Sonic and Knuckles

No he couldn't. That was Mecha Sonic, an entirely different robot. The only use out of him is that it established that robots go into Super Mode with the Master, rather than the Chaos, Emerald(s). While yes, Sonic Heroes was his biggest role, I'd rather see him in his CD stage (Metal Madness Zone), for that was his first appearance, before Knux.

Anyways, the people who had the demo might not have all the data, and things can always change mid-development. This is all speculation. Therefore, I won't comment on anything else. We can all have our own theories.

After playing the demo like 10 times(rather short, about 2-3 min if your not exploring) I thought I would post my impressions.

1. Visually, the game looks very vibrant and is quite colorful. It isn't mind-blowingly beautiful, but it looks good. I'm very interested to see what chemical plant zone will look like.

2. The control is good. Sonic handles quite well and the controls are responsive. No complaints here. This demo only includes the classic sonic so I can't comment on how modern sonic controls.

3. The music is done well. Even the intro screen to the demo has a remixed version of the introduction music. Green Hill Zone is also remixed. It isn't too different from the original song but updated enough to give it a new feel.

4.The level design is good. Multiple paths to complete the level with the upper route getting you to the end faster but is harder to stay on.

Overall it the game is quite fun. If I had to level a complaint against it is that sonic seems to accelerate too quickly. This is very evident with the spin dash which just rockets you forward. Oh, and why no modern sonic level? I would have liked to at least try one out since it seems that the game will be split between classic and modern levels.

All that being said, I'm looking forward to the full game.

I'm a Sonic Fanatic you don't need to lecture me on that. :p I was going to include it'd be odd since Mecha was the one in SnK, but I seemed to have forgotten.

I am just curious if bosses match up to their game or due to the time continuum being messed up, if they appear in different orders.

My friend said one of the Half-Life games was rebuilt specifically because fans cracked it.

I would have lol'd if Sega anticipated this and made it so you discover a "Werehog" file in there... they are masterful trolls.

In fact, some thought the Werehog featured in some way because they saw a life icon that looked far too toothy and ferocious to be Classic or Modern...

It's always good to get an impression. I hope it rocks, and by all accounts, it should if the leaks are spot on.

Unless Sega knew fans would crack it and are planning something diabolical.

Now, we all know the basic gist of the music tracks.

It's easy to turn say, a lyricless song like Green Hill Modern or Classic...

Buuuut, how do you turn a song that has lyrics, like City Escape, into a classic song?

Fortunately, the City Escape Classic song has been found, in high quality:

This shows promise!

Green Hill Classic and Modern for those curious:

Sonic, once more, has music as his strong point and doesn't let us down.

The title screen's theme is the theme song for Sonic 1 and 2, remixed.

The main menu's theme is the one from Sonic Heroes.

As we can see, Sega is clearly on top of the "mix every game possible into this!" game... complete with those cameos of obscure characters. And not just Big the Cat for once!

City Escape Classic seemed ok-wait, they kept the lyrics? AND THEN THEY AUTOTUNED IT! WHY!? WHY!?

So, yeah. Not too thrilled about it. I Like Green Hill, thought part of me wishes that they just used the Genesis track instead of a remake for Classic. But then the other half is "It's only an extra drum track, you miserable ****tard, and it actually sounds good with it"

Sega is interested in recreating the 90s in the 2010s, not going back to the 90s entirely. :p

So, remixes all around!

I should pre-order the game since you get the Casino Night level... oh, and I guess some other goodies like costumes for your avatar.

I am just saddened I can't get the demo because XBL is too hard to set up.

Note: It appears to get the 360 demo on XBL, you need GOLD membership. What the heck Sega?!

Apparently it's called "Demo: Classic Version," which has led people to believe that there's going to be a Modern Version but if you want Modern's gameplay, just give Unleashed's Day Stages or Colors a try.

As for the voice actors, they are naturally the same from Colors/Free Riders. It will be nice to hear the cast members, see if they've improved. I for one hope Shadow's voice doesn't suck like it did in Free Riders (God do I miss SA2...)

===SPOILERIFIC===

You have been warned.

Spoiler :
It is suspected the Wisps will factor into one of the stage's gameplay due to an icon for two Wisps being found.

Two characters have been confirmed for cutscenes, as rough cutscene models have been found:

AFAIK that is for the first week only. Which means you can get it now. Oh, and that's a Microsoft policy, not Sega. Unless a company like sega can choose not to follow it.

Well since Sega's tight-lipped about this whole project (but not tight enough to remove all that extra data from the demo...), I had made an assumption...

Let's hope I can get it!

...well no. It involves a ton of crap to hook up to XBL. I guess I'll just have to wait until November.

If you need help, I suppose I could help you. It isn't that hard to connect to XBL.

More information has been released about Sonic Generations. Metal Sonic is confirmed(as in officially confirmed, not just the stuff taken from the demo) and pics of Chemical Plant zone along with what appears to be 3DS special stages and even Stardust Speedway.

The game looks good. The idea behind sounds good and with Sonic colours and Sonic 4 being success, it seems that Sonic Team is fully getting their act together. I am actually excited for the game.

I had wanted to post that, but didn't feel it important enough.

Anyway, this sets a neat precendent: it appears each boss gets their own separate stage. This will be cool; we get 6 more remade stages!

I do wonder if there will be a final boss after every pair of levels or not...

It will be epic either way. :goodjob:

City Escape Modern, ripped from a Japanese trailer:

All new vocal tracks, and BGM. Even the lyrics are partially rewritten.

Shadow Boss fight, it appears. So far it's looking like you fight bosses based on which era they're from. So, Classic will take on the likes of the Death Egg, Metal Sonic, etc. whereas Modern takes on Shadow, Silver, Chaos, Egg Dragoon.

This is the Death Egg boss fight, it seems.

Planet Wisp. Fans of Sonic Colors might remember this. Looks peaceful and beautiful doesn't it? Time to take that industrialist out!

I'm really looking forward to this... and to think, it's only a few months away now!

I had honestly hoped that
Spoiler :
Classic Sonic would be used to fight Shadow
for lols and gags, but I guess not all hopes can come true.

I give you the newest trailer, which shows Sonic 06's Crisis City AND Sonic Colors' Planet Wisp as a playable stage:

Link to video.

Wow, Sonic 0-Sucks will probably look just a tad better by comparison now.

There's a special teaser, as in the last few trailers, in the last few seconds. I am looking forward to this!

Early fan speculation was that the Wisps would have some role in Planet WIsp's gameplay, and indeed, for that stage only, they do.

We can see the time/space distortion's effects immediately - there are Genesis-era enemies in Planet Wisp.

I'm also digging the remix. Some of the remixed tracks are subpar, but some of them are also very excellent - keeping up with the one thing Sonic's always been consistent in.
