Non-pangea games, under human usage, is really a contest called 'King of the Octo Overlords'.
It is not a game of navies, catapults, assasins, archmages, but instead is a game of Stygian Guards and Ritualists.
The first half of the game is to conquer your own landmass using conventional means, and if you specialize in navies like the Lanun do, you can spread out to other continents as well. Usually its best to run ROK or FOL during this time.
The second half is switch to OO, and build giant stacks of Stygian guards, with 2-5 cultists each, and send them on their merry way.
The superabundance of trees on the Erebus mapscript makes FOL-> OO the optimal choice.
Of course, if ye are able to minimize your rival's usage of other religions, you might get a sneaky religious victory.
....
// it would however be fun an interesting to play an Islands and/or Continents game without the OO and Lanun, OR without the OO and worldspells. If its w/o OO and worldspells, then the Lanun can FINALLY make usage of their boarding promo. I would like that alot ^_^
(also Lanun wordspell tends to cause OOS or game crashes for most participants, at least in this one game I heard about/joined in after the crash as an AI)
