ok - here is the problem - i've turned all the sounds off - the master volume, sound effects, everything is on off - because i like to listen ot music on my computer while i play or watch tv - the songs in the game get old after a while as i'm sure you all know - but here is the problem - i still get an occasional bird sounds - even though everything is turned off - i don't get any other sounds form he game, but an anoying bird tweating sound every now and then - any way to turn this off? is it a bug? am i losing my mind?

close your window....

seriously though...do you have your audio on mute all?

i have the in-game audios on mute - i don't want to use the mute on my comp control panel, b.c. i want to listen to cds/downloaded music on my comp

i don't want to and shouldn't have to tinker with my comp -why can't i turn off all the sounds in the game only?

Try turning the in-game audio sliders down to 0 instead of pressing the Mute buttons - that fixed it for me anyway.

i think i did that - i'll look/give it a try when i get hone thanks

Actually you may have to try pressing the mute buttons, and turning the sliders to 0. I can't remember if this was actually what I did, and I'm not at home, so I can't test it right now.

I thought I had this thing under control, but yesterday I discovered differently.

Listening to a cd - even with the sliders turned down and mute buttons pressed, I still hear the occasional "twitter twitter tweet" bird sfx....

Sorry Andyo, apparently this was not as easy to fix as I thought.

Please I need your help. Can anybody teach me how can I play the game and listen to Windows Media Player at the same time?
Sorry to bother you all, but I don't know anything about computers. Thanks,
Shirannybl.

You should be able to - just start up windows media player before you start Civ3 and then turn off the sound in the game. I don' t use Windows Media Player, so I can't say for sure, but it should be possible this way.

Of course you'll still have to listen to the bird sounds once in a while, but I think it's better than nothing

damn birds - why won't they go away?
