Space age?

At any rate, there are no proper ages in Civilization 4. That seems to be confirmed.

All the same, there should not be a space age -- officially or unofficially. Right now, it's much more important that they improve the second half of the game, which generally starts around 1500 AD. Extending the late game boredom can only do more harm than good, unless they fix that first.

I couldn't agree more!

I wouldn't want to see any furture technologies that aren't likely arrise within the next twenty years or so (maximum!). And I look forward to the new tech tree options; it always seemed far too contrived for me.

I actually hope that in the longer version they add mor detail to the earlier parts of the tech tree, rather than developing far into the future

Honestly, as someone who has always been more interested in the modern side of history I think they have represented the Ancient ages just fine in the past. I'd like to see the Modern Age/Late Game fleshed out more, though I agree that future stuff should be left to modders to add in. While I would personally like to see Giant Death Robots, I realize that isn't for everyone. ;)

Dh epic is right... please to god dont add more to the modern age until they can actually make the modern age worth playing. I would rather they end the game in 1950 and focus all the zots on making that very much improved and skip the modern age.

Hey I kinda like the Idea of a space age, but would find really cool is space battles and space bombardment. so while defending your borders in a "space Age" u can also defend orbit around your country.

Howabout spaceships that can fly to nearby planets and colinize them.Theyr could be civs on that planet 2 and they may or may not be more advanced than u.Then u could declare interplanitary war and land mechs off ships on to your opponants territory

Adding extra technoligies and improvements like sattelites ground stations space stations and so on would be good but I dont see how there could be that much added because there isnt that much knew space technoligies to be added without going into the realms of fantasay so you couldnt have a new age even if there were ages in the game.

I think you could easily extrapolate a none fantasy tech tree for a space age using common sense and the general direction of technology today, but again, until they can actually make the modern age worth playing PLEASE TO GOD DONT ADD MORE BORING TURNS TO THE END OF THE GAME.

But i dont see why not.... if they do like they say, have an option on the number of turns, you can just lower your turns if you dont want to play it, let other people that do what to play it, play it.

I would kind of like it, to see a civ that i made with mechs and such, that i just started out with stone axes a few weeks ago.

They had swords and archers in LOTR......

I didnt say that they should have mechs, i was using them as an example.... but they could make some futuristic, but realistic units and techs im sure... they could make some kind of infantry that can drop from anywhere in the world, or an advanced advanced bomber.. or Space Stations, or anything. But i do agree in the fact that they should make the modern age better before they add anything on to it.
