I just completed a Space Race victory in Play the World, and every time I finished, the game crashed to the desktop.
I tried both of the fixes suggested by ainwood at http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=2742147&postcount=2, but unfortunately neither one worked. I do not know if this affects my Vanilla or Conquests installations, as I haven't gotten a Space Race victory in either of them on this machine yet.
System specs are Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz, Windows XP Home SP2, 256 MB GeForce 8600M GT with DirectX 9.0c (stock clocks of 475/400), 2 GB DDR2 RAM, 22.9 GB free hard drive space, 60 Hertz refresh rate on LCD monitor. All drivers are up to date through at least April. I usually play with the KeepRes=1 setting and 1280x800 resolution, but turning this off still resulted in it crashing to desktop.
Specifically, it gave me the Spaceship screen with the launch button, and when I clicked "Launch", the screen went black with the cursor still there, and it played the first part of the sound it's supposed to when you click "Launch" six or seven times, and then the program closed.
I was able to finish the last turn by installing Conquests (and thus PTW) on my old Pentium II 450 MHz, 128 MB RAM, Windows 98 (first edition), 8 MB Matrox Millenia G200 machine and playing the last turn there. I've also had successful launches in Vanilla and Conquests on another old machine that ran XP SP1 (very rarely play PTW). But I don't usually have another machine on which to play the last turn of a Space Race game so it working on my current machine would be kind of nice.
