Score: 67/79 (Fusion powered)

2) the fastest:

you'll need:

33 SS Structurals
8 SS Component (Fuel)
8 SS Component (Propulsion)
1 SS Module (Habitation)
1 SS Module (Solar Panel)
1 SS Module (Life Support)

Flight time: 7.7 years/5.7 years (Fusion powered)
Prob.of Success: 100%/100% (Fusion powered)
Shield Cost: 6.160 Shields
Population: 10.000
Score: 100

3) the full version (with more score):

you'll need:

39 SS Structurals
8 SS Component (Fuel)
8 SS Component (Propulsion)
4 SS Module (Habitation)
4 SS Module (Solar Panel)
4 SS Module (Life Support)

Flight time: 15.6 years/11.7 years (Fusion powered)
Prob.of Success: 100%/100% (Fusion powered)
Shield Cost: 9.520 Shields
Population: 40.000
Score: 400

The type you should built depends only on your strategy!!

BTW, in your signature, you have a .GIF image... it will not display because the image in the signature blocks is turned off! Only text will appear!

i personally used to go for the 15-3-3-1-1-1 (i think) but i gave that up since the AI's could always beat me with the 39-8-8-1-1-1
so now, i always use 39-3-3-1-1-1 it is the fastest so i will know if i will win or not.

Another idea for knowing if your SS will win is to keep the AI from completing a SS . Or, if the AI gets lose to launching (or launches!!), then go in with force and kill their capital (capture it). Their SS will "return to earth" (die), and you will win .
