Space's second attempt

One other quick question, what are you using to crop your screenshots? I made screenies of my early empire & 1000 BC and would like to include them in my posting when it's complete.

I'm using paint (comes free with windows). Be sure to save the picture as jpg first and then use skew from the menu and just use the same percentage for the x and y. Don't forget to save again.

If you resize in the standard bmp format, you'll lose definition and letters will become unreadable.

Quick update on my current progress. It's 750AD and I'll be getting MT next turn. My Knights are already busy with the Mongols and the Koreans. I've had many Elite wins so a MGL should sprout any time now. It would be wonderful to be able to use my brand new Cavs to fill the Army. :)

I currently have 37% of the land and 65% of the population (remember that I have the full set of AI for this map, they have built cities for me to fill the map). My current score is 4364 (turn 190), more than double that of my Regent attempt in this stage.

What better way to celebrate the fact that I fixed my computer this weekend, then to play some more turns in this game... :yeah:

It's now 920AD and I am at 45% in landmass, 69% in pop, 5774 in points. I'm at war with France, the Incas and the Zulus. I had a RoP with the Zulus, but they wanted to land a settler on my turf and declared war for it. :crazyeye: Maybe I sould've selected low aggresiveness after all (its average IIRC). As it stands, I'll just tackle them a bit sooner than expected (they lack Iron  ).

I got a SGL for Astronomy, so I decided to get Music Theory to rush Bachs with it. I thought about Copernicus' but since I'm running on scientists anyway, I think Bach is going to help me better at this stage.

I now have all but 1 luxes. I hadn't anticipated on the luxes being so expensive with the AI being so small, but I should've. The game counts the affected people to determine the price and since I have a lot of 'em, and they so little, my luxes are useless in those deals. So I'm running with unusually high lux rates from the start. The C3C taxmen help a lot in this config, they pay for the troops.

Time for a quick update: I reached the dom limit around 1250AD and am currently relocating my people from the barren tundra they filled on my home continent to the green green grasses of the former AI country. I've slected Korea to be the one to survive since they selected a tundra village surrounded by mountains as their new capital. :) It probably has oil but I doubt they will ever be capable of using it.

I'm as good as finished RR-ing the entire world save the 3 small cold islands that hold the Russians, the Americans and the Iroqs respectively. The Iroqs still haven't researched HBR yet... Maybe I'l be just in time to trigger their GA when their turn to be diversion arrives.

The other big job currently underway is getting rid of the intermediate cities as the permanent ones build hospitals.

I made it! *pant*

The post-mortem of the game:

1. Never choose the Zulu again. I needed three attempts to get rid of them. I suffered too many casualties by those :arggh: Impis.

2. At times I fought at three fronts in an attempt to get to the dom limit sooner. This caused some wars to last longer resulting in war weariness in some cases. Next time ( ) I'll stay with one at the time. Since that probably will be on Emperor the temptation will be less big anyway.

3. I should have focussed on the AI with luxes more, instead of geographical closeness.

4. I found the "settle close, weed out later" tactic to be very helpful, and I will use it again. I focused on using all the tiles within my borders ASAP, in the end only 505 tiles went to waste of which 399 were filled by cities, I had 4124 happy citizens most of the last millenium.

The following graph compares the two attempts, the y-axis shows the points per 10 turns.
