(this is more of a discussion than a poll..)

With 4 turns left (Culture in 1828), we can achieve both a spaceship victory AND culture victory.

We get Synthetic Fibers in 2 turns (3 spaceship parts)

For spaceship:

Civantoria is already on a palace prebuild, and should be able to build the SS Exterior in 1 turn (the most expensive part to build).

Thebes can build the SS Storage/Supply in about 2 turns (160 shields).

PDX can build the Statis Chamber (320) in 3 turns (1 turn past our victory), but It can prebuild the Manhatten Project (currently being built by other nations - most likely, nearing completion), then switch when we get Synth. Fibers.

However... this means that all parts will befinished BEFORE culture sets in (city cycles are completed before the culture value is added).

Our culture is in 1828 AD, 4 turns. We could, in 2 turns, let PDX start the Status Chamber, which it will be finished in 1830, and we can all visit 'poly. ;)

Culture is still our main goal.

I think we should hold off on launching the Spaceship until the Cultural Flashscreen appears. (The Victory Screen!)

In theory we could time both to occur on the same date.

Obviously one or the other victory condition would cancel out the one not taken. I also believe that once a condition is met, the spaceship is disabled, so we couldn't get through the back door that way.

Spaceship would come first, since it automatically gives it to you, during the city cycle. Culture comes after the city cycle.

So how about we time it so the last spaceship part will be done the turn after culture kicks in. We'll get the culture victory officially but we'll have the satisfaction of knowing the SS is basically done and we can go get some bananas.

All we have to do for that is to not let PDX prebuild the Manhatten Project. ;)

How bout we try for space ship, but if we don't make it in time we get culture? It doesn't make a differance and trying to get the spaceship built in a certain amount of time will be challangeing and fun.

I want Space Ship victory... it's the best there is

I like culture, since it's a change of pace. Space Ship is too common. :) Besides, programs like CAP would be all for nought.

I wouldn't say CAP was for nought.... HOW MANY cities fliped to us?

I still think we should try are hardest to get spaceship... the chance is low that we will get it and were end up with culture anyway, but it will give us a nice challange to set stuff up to get spaceship before culture.

Phoenatica is and will always be a classic Culture icon. Only the glory of a Cultural Victory is appropriate for a Nation such as this. Although Spaceship is a grand exit from the game, like Chieftess says, it is a little common. Spaceship and Diplomatic Victories are a quick "end game" for the AI. A Cultural Victory is something to be proud of. Let us not push that button, nor even start the Countdown, until it is absolutely necessitated by a rival Nation.

Let's secure the Cultural Victory...

How about SpaceShip then Culture???

I have to agree with Cyc. A culture victory would symbolize something for Phoenatica that a space ship could not. The world would look to us for our nation, not for it's manufacturing capability, but for it's culture, which has a much higher value then the number of sheilds our cities can crank out in a turn.

Taht's what i am thinking now.

Ok, it all boils down to PDX. If it prebuilds Manhatten for 1 turn, we win by space ship. If we don't prebuild, and wait, we win by culture in 1828AD, and build the space ship in 1830AD.

Culture is winning right now. So, prebuild and win by spaceship? Or don't prebuild and win by culture?
