Spaceship Problems?

The manual says that the spaceship view key is "F10". Alternately, the manual says that you can view your spaceship by choosing it from the game menu.

My problem is that the game menu doesn't show a spaceship option, and when I hit F10, all I get is the "page turning" sound effect which normally accompanies the Civilopedia. But no spaceship screen.

I've built the whole damn thing, but I can't get to it to launch it!!!

Most unpleasant. Has anyone else encountered this? Or, perhaps, am I doing something wrong?

If it's past the year 2050, they won't let you launch the spaceship. You can only launch the spaceship if it's before the year 2050, and the launching will then win the game for you. If the game has already ended, you can't launch the ship. I think that's pretty crappy. I wish they included something so that you can set the length of the game. (I.E. if you wanted to, you could make the game end on 2500, or 2000, or whenever you wanted it to.)

Thanks for the info.

You're absolutely right. I'm playing CivIII for my first time, and I'm playing rather like a newbie. So I'm past the year 2050, but I still want to play out the game to my ultimate victory.

It's utter bovine fecal matter that I can't launch the spaceship on my way to military victory! So what if I don't do it before the arbitrary finishing date? The game knows I didn't win before then, I know I didn't win before then, SO WHAT??? Let me launch the friggin' spaceship.

Way to take the fun out of the game, Infogrames. What's the point of continuing to play past 2050? Is the game not going to let me take the last opposing city, too?

That's crap. Utter crap. It ought to be fixed in a patch.
