I am currently recieving a spam flood from Gainy via email. Well, anyway, a lot of the spam says it's from Thunderfall@civfanatics.com, with the real name of thunderfall. How is he doing that? I know this is Gainy, but I'm wondering how he did that.

Know, I he isn't mascarading as him. He basically told me it was him.

Hense why I always only give my e-mail to a few trusted PBEM players and have a 2nd E-mail address for personal use.

It's easy to pretend to send from someone else... In outlook or similar email client, create a new account. Fill in the same values as you would for your normal account (from ISP or some other POP3 mail). When it asks you what email address your sending from, you can write any address you want, and when it asks you for your name, you can write any name you want it to be from.

For someone with skills, it's possible to see from what servers the email came from anyway, but it's not very easy... And if you send illegal stuff, I'm sure they can track down the specific computer it was sent from.

You can report it to the forum authorities, and we'll take action, if you want him to stop. Harassment of posters via PMs or emails is obviously an offense.

Click the "Create a Filter" link (below search at the page top). It will filter by sender, keywords, attachments or whatever... and there's an option to send it straight to the Trash.

Well, this seems quite a bit like a 'personal' problem between the two of you...

Anyhow, I would suggest blocking the e-mail he's using or marking it as spam so it goes to Bulk Mail/Trash.

Sorry, that post was a gut reaction when being accused of something (deny all knowledge )
The thread isn't about how to deal with the problem, it's about how it was created.
There is/are program(s) which do it all for you, pretty simple to use.
Gogf doesn't mind btw (no personal problems) He loves me really...

Click the "Create a Filter" link (below search at the page top). It will filter by sender, keywords, attachments or whatever... and there's an option to send it straight to the Trash.

I did that, but the problem was even when displaying one hundred messages per page, it takes a while to enpty the trash, when there are thousands of messages. Thank anyway though .

1000 e mails. Damn thats a lot. I take no chances an rarely post any one of my 4 e mails adresses(school, AOL, hotmail, and Gmail)

I say, click the link to expose more details and then post evidence to the FBI (Internet Fraud Complaint Center - IFCC).

That will demonstrate to the arrogant Gainy about how we deal with these problems (sp. spam & fraud)

My (good ) name has really been tarnished here...

Gogf promised me if I did something (which involved a bit of effort on my part) then he would also do something which I had been asking him to do (nothing gay )
I spent a bit of time doing it, and delivered. Then Gogf decided to undo my good doing, and then go back on his promise. I've been bugging him aboot this for a wee while now, all in good humor I didn't really see an email bomb as such a bad thing...

Btw, I can assure you nothing will be able to trace it back to me (can't help but sound arrogant )
