Speculation on civ switching and colonial nations

I would hope, although we don't have details yet, that the exact extent and degree of Crisis and loss suffered will vary somewhat on in-game events and player actions. Having the entire Crisis Transition from one Age to the other be Fixed with all Penalties set seems pretty arbitrary and removes all player inout to what is a major part of the entire game sequence.
I think the idea is the Crisis something you play through. ie Barbarian invasion, rebellion, plague etc.

The cities and towns you lose in the Crisis should be lost in exactly the same way as they are lost in the middle of the Age (rebel/barbarian troops taking the city )

Some of the cities you keep through the Crisis will become towns in the Transition.
