Spell Micromanagement

I feel that some of the spell micromanagement is a bit unnecessary.
For example, Dance of Blades. It has to be recast every turn if you want it every turn.
But I feel that is just a waste of management.
I think it would be better if the buffs like Dance of Blades lasted till the next combat,
or till the unit ends its turn on a tile which has no unit able to cast said buff.

I always thought there should be some sort of auto-cast script that would run at the end of a player's turn. For things like Haste, it's a nightmare to have to keep casting it over and over again, and for automated units or the AI? Forget it.

Having the script run at the end of turn would minimize intrusion on the human player (i.e. if you wanted your adepts to cast something else, you 'd do that before ending your turn), and in most cases wouldn't have any downsides. It should also be easy to code.

This reminds me a fair bit of Age of Wonder's mechanic regarding units with the Healing ability. You could use it in combat if you wanted, and heal an injured unit. Any units with the Healing ability that you did not use in combat would autocast it on injured units at the end of each turn.

I agree that DoB should last until the next combat, or potentially the same number of turns as level of the caster. I'm not sure what an autoscript would do to the delay between turns though.

Also, when casting a spell which targets 1 unit and applies an effect, like for example Charm Person or Wither, IF there is only 1 unit in the selected tile, couldn't it just apply the effect on that single unit instead of bringing up the selection window?

That's a cool idea but I can't see it working without waaaay too much coding since magi can have multiple spheres. What to do when a mage can cast more than one temporary spell (ie, haste *and* dance of blades)?

That said, it would be very useful if temporary buffs like dance of blades remained on a unit so long as they have a mage capable of casting the spell in their stack. It shouldn't change the design intent - I think the aim of temporary spells is that a mage has to be there when you want to use it, otherwise you could just run around buffing units like with enchanted blade, etc.
