In civ3, i cannot alt-tab to my desktop.
When i open other applications before starting civ, i can swich between them, but things do get screwed up a bit sometimes (wrong resolution in other applications) and a few times i had civ crash on me.
When i open an application while civ is starting, i get error code 28.
Also after playing civ, my desktop resolution sometimes is changed.

All together, it is not very flexible in use. I have no knowledge or experience about making games, but i would actually expect such features to be easier in turn based games than in real time games. And most real time games i have do allow me all those things that i just explained cause problems with civ.

Would be nice if civ4 is a bit more stable and flexible in this aspect.

Good point! I hate having to remember to open a program BEFORE I launch CIV 3

I only have 95 so I may not have that problem But I never saw it. I can switch to a folder, open a notpad text file, even open paint for screenshot saving. What OSes do you have? I do hope though that is will be flexable enough to continue to do that. I actually use them all the time.

Windows key or Ctrl-Esc can pop up the Start menu, from which you can open a program or click on the Show Desktop shortcut on the taskbar, and get other programs to open.

I agree that Civ4 ought to fix this sort of thing, though.
