To: Kyotan Tribes
From: Hokkaido Confederacy

This combat has devastated us both, and it is unlikely either of our forces can continue such slaughter for eternity. As such, it is proposed that a 2 turn Cease Fire be declared so that we may both recover. After the two turns have passed...that will be decided then, not now.

Wonders: Shipyards of Colombo (+3 Navy, +2 Naval Training) (5/6)

Nothing. None. Zero. That was the amount of progress Sri Lanka had made in the last one hundred years. Meanwhile, the Tibetans had pressed ever further into Indian land, a deadly arrow straight towards the capital.
But there was one thing Sri Lanka had done in the last century. The economy had boomed, going from merely stable to prosperous. But what good was an economy if you did not use it, the Emperor thought to himself as he pored over the latest battlefield report.
That was when he decided. India's army would be expanded to a level not seen anywhere else in the world. It would be HUGE. And so be it if in order to do that, the Economy fell into a recession. So be it.
Brooding on these matters, the Emperor almost forgot about the shipyards. But he did not. They were nearly complete. And he would live to see them completed.

Orders*secret
-Expand Army Level four times to huge.
-Attack from every location on the border, as shown on the map. Curve west with some of the forces, and attack the Tibetans heading toward the Indian capital from behind. Also, again curve into the unsettled land inland from the settled eastern territory, and attack the flank of the Tibetan land. Settle as you go. Kill all of the Tibetans. They had their chance for peace. Be careful, however, not to destroy the land, as Sri Lanka will claim it.
-Continue settling along the coast of the bay of Bengal (BEN).
-FINISH Wonder [6/6]

OOC: What about the story contest you announced in the post right after the previous update?

Zululand continued to grow. The Zulus, swelled by the inflow of new peoples and goods, retained their prosperity. Such prosperity, however, was not likely to continue long if the rumors some of these new peoples told were true.

According to these stories (which of course are always distorted in their retelling, but retain at least a grain of truth nonetheles), a race of barbaric giants seven feet tall dwelt in the area of Tanganyika. They were said to eat raw meat and spend their entire lives out in the open, only taking shelter during sudden downpours. They also said that these natives would attack and burn villages for sport, killing whoever they could find except for children, who they would take and raise to be their slaves. Accounts varied as to whether these people actually ate human flesh, but most of them agreed that this race of giants was notorious for its tortures of war captives, often slicing open a man's stomach and ripping out his entrails, then replacing them with poisonous snakes, so that the victim would suffer incredible pain and have a slow, agonizing death of being eaten alive from the inside out.

Whether or not these accounts were true in form was debatable. However, true or not, they certainly caused a panic among the people. Many were reluctant to leave their homes and go beyond sight of their villages for fear of the "Northerners."

Therefore, in order to calm the populace, the Zulu leadership decided to take measures. First, they sent out a call to arms to every village, requiring 1 out of every 3 males able to bear arms to sign up. Second, they began to excercise the troops in the arts of warfare, including some of the more tedious jobs such as marches with full packs. They also began posting those fresh from training and into the service around the perimeter of the land, so any raiding parties would be confronted.

Manchuria

The Mongol War had now lasted for many generations. Many began to believe that it was now time for the war to end, while others wanted to persue the destruction of the Mongolian Threat. There was disagreement throughout the land on the issue. But to the Despot, there was no issue to debate: the Mongols were still too powerful, and they had to be further weakened. However, his advisors were beginning to remind him more and more often of the weak economic state the nation had been put in by the constant pursuit of these wars. Thus, the economy would once again become the focus of the Despot, in addition to the wars. For years, the economy of Manchuria had been dependent on the sea for survival. However, with the Mongolians pushed back, some of the interior lands that were suitable for farming were now also safe for farming. The despot hoped that by encouraging the growth of farming, the economy would become more stable, as the nation would no longer be dependent on just 1 food source.

ORDERS:
-Inprove economy by encouraging the growth of inland farming.
-Continue the invasion of Mongolia, but slowly and methodically, so that our well trained troops can use the somewhat rough terrain of the region to their defensive advantage, while the aggression of the Mongols leads them to attack our forces at poor odds.
